1 of a 100 possible 4v5 Solution ideas

Theres a 20 minute minimum surrender threshold which I totally agree with and do not wish for to change in normal circumstances. However, when your playing a 4v5 and it turns into a 20 minute butt kicking, I seriously debate quitting the game for good and hate everyone around me. It can sometimes spill into my next game. I know many others feel similar to this.

Why do we have to put up with this when we're here to have fun? End the game quick and move on to another game and test your luck.

Why not drop the surrender timer to 10 minutes when someone doesnt connect at all. Connect reconnects but never leave the fountain should also fall under this. Why punish the 4v5 by having to sit around for 20 minutes and get abused. And for those of you claiming "But ive won 4v5's" So have I. But you should know by 10 minutes whether its possible or not. If you're score is pretty close, and you're winning team fights you can choose to continue on. If its 5-30 and someone is threatening or already has afk as you're already down 4v5 waiting to 20 is not even remotely fun.

I've won enough 4v5s to know that giving up right away isn't that smart. it's like when someone on your team is about useless and you still win.

Where? I have hundreds of ranked games and have NEVER seen the 4 win. Not even once. Maybe in normals people don't care as much so it's easier to win, but not in ranked. I'd rather just take the damn LP loss and get into a game I can actually win.

4 v 5's are like being given a right to troll...but to me trolling is turtling the match out as long as possible and make them earn the win. I don't have this false sense of honor or anything like that...but i can only imagine how irate the other team is when they haven't won the 4 v 5 at the 50 minute mark...

Also the meta changes when there is a 4 v 5 so its fun to try new things...worse case scenario you could play some football (td is making it to enemy nexus :)

It is still very possible to win a 4v5 game. The TL;DR of it: Stay positive!

It can be very difficult to maintain a positive attitude when playing as soon as you hear "A Summoner has been disconnected." But if you keep your chin up, you'll drastically increase the likelihood of finding victory, or at least losing in a manner that reminds you it is only supposed to be a game.

Some pro tips, as someone who has won a few 4v5 matches:

  1. Do not, in any way, post "gg," "surrender at 20," or anything similar. At all. Negativity can be very powerful, so don't allow yourself or others to get to that point in the first place. Maintaining a positive attitude will encourage teamwork and enjoyment of the game (even given the scenario). Losing isn't always fun, but losing when surrounded by toxicity is never fun.

  2. Rally up! If the disconnect happens early in the game, you may have to forego jungling entirely. Yes, this sucks, but better the jungler takes monster farm than allowing a lane to be repeatedly minion farmed. Play under tower until you can get a kill or try to catch out isolated Champions if you are grouped. Do not overextend.

  3. Control vision in your immediate area. This will ensure that the free jungler will not be able to easily capitalize on the advantage that they have. Farm up, keep your eyes open, and play it safe.

  4. When laning ends, try to stay grouped if at all possible. This will make it easier to obtain objectives and win teamfights.

  5. To re-iterate, just have fun. At the end of the day it's still a game (even in Ranked), so try to treat it as such. Not all of your experiences will be affected by disconnects, so do what you can and move on. Don't let negative actions breed negativity!

Lol everyone here commenting on how to deal with a leaver but that doesn't excuse the fact that Riot needs to offer up compensation for a player wasting 4 or more players time. You can win a 1v5 but that doesn't make it worth the time or even close to being enjoyable. 20 percent of your team not playing is a HUGE disadvantage, if the other team is not noobs then they pretty much have a free win. "4v5 changes the meta" lol you mean having 4 players push one lane and the 5th player push another lane = the 4 man team with afker can't defend = different meta? Meta means nothing when you clearly are at a disadvantage.

If you want to "surrender" before 20, just get your team to agree to leave one lane open so the enemies can easily push and win.

You can win 4v5 though. Pressure lanes and you'll find your team getting an experience lead. Use that to win 4v5 away from their turrets (go for early baron), and then take turrets when they have someone dead.

it can be done, though it is much harder and the rest of your team needs to be playing well enough to make up the difference of missing the one person. if jungle is afk, but each lane still wins hard, then as long as they don't take too long to end, they should be able to win (i've seen a diamond 4v5 game go that way and the other team gave up fairly early even being one person up, so tier doesn't really matter, though the lower the tier, the easier it is to win 4v5).
