Aatrox Q - Should some of the Sweet Spot/Edge damage be shifted to the rest of the hitbox?

That way, I think he'd be a little less oppressive against immobile champions in lane, while at the same time he'd have a better chance to fend off enemies with the ability to get right in his face and stay on top of him.

It just feels like he's way too reliant on his Q sweet spots for damage right now due to how absurd the damage on that part of the ability is, while the rest of the ability's damage is laughable. I get that they're trying to encourage players to hit the edges of the ability and that's fine, but the damage gap really doesn't need to be as high as it is right now, not to mention he already gets a knockup for landing the edge of the ability.

And also... He's an immortal Darkin, for crying out loud! Why shouldn't a being that wields enough power to wipe out entire armies and slay gods be able to hold his own against some fool that even dares to think of getting anywhere near him?

Thoughts?

You can really move the sweet spots around though with E. Like, even backwards. Try it sometime. Retreat combo is Q-Back E-Q-Q-Back E.

I guess I just suck then.

What about melee auto attackers like Jax or Tryndamere? They can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Jax is an honest counter to Aatrox, and you'll probably lose 1v1. My best suggestion is to keep W-E at the ready to get away from him, if you're laning.

I honestly have found better success with Aatrox in the jungle than laning.

Now, as for the Tryndamere situation - If he's not aggressive, try using the Q-E sneak combo for easy poke damge. If you don't know the sneak combo, you simply use E to move the hitbox at the last second before impact.

Remember: He can't turret dive you with ult, as long as your ult is up. Because you last longer in bed. If you find yourself on the defensive, I'd suggest clearing waves with Q as they come to turret, because he can be very powerful in close proximity.

Hm, I haven't tried him in the jungle yet, so I'll definitely check out your guide when I feel like trying Aatrox jungle.

There's just one last thing I'm really curious about. What exactly should I do as Aatrox in a teamfight?

Be aggressive as fuck when ulti is up. CC high priority targets. Use chain on tanks, because it'll peel them off your carries. I need to make a combo guide soon, but I gotta edit video clips for that.

If you wanna get gnarly with it...

The most -damaging- combo I've found, but it's fairly hard to do properly, is Q, E-forward if hit, Deathbringer Auto, W, 2nd Q, auto, chain pull, third Q. Save second E to adjust position. If you hit the sweet spot in all of those hits, doesn't matter who it is - They ded.

Need to surprise nuke someone?

Try the 3rd Q Flash E combo. Basically, spam your combo until it's on the 3rd Q, doesn't matter if you hit anything, then use it, and just before impact, quickly use flash and E to basically teleport 700ish units with your most powerful hit.
