Please help me with Katarina

Hey guys,

I've gone through a lot of phases when playing champs, switching from one to another as they're changed, or as items change etc. Kat was one of the first champs I ever played regularly but this was years ago. Think when AD Kat with 5 bloodthirsters was a thing. I played the first reworked version of Kat for a while but it was bland. So I was excited for the new one, but I've played it now a few times, and I'm honestly stuck, I don't get how anyone can win with her anymore. I'm not saying she can't win, I'm saying I can't with her.

Her damage has been nerfed across all her spells and shoved into her passive. That's great, but these daggers are so obviously telegraphed that Stevie Wonder has an easy time walking away from them. I find that against Kat it's the same thing, as long as I don't walk directly backwards into her thrown dagger, she loses around 3/4 of her would be damage.

TLDR: I suck as new kat. I find her easy to beat but can't win as her at all. Can you give me some good advice on how she's now played effectively. Thanks :)

You should only go in if you know you are going to get the kill/kills, no matter what, late game Kat will still be prevalent because of her short absurd burst. I've had games where everyone had at least 1 MR Item of Maw of Malmortius quality or higher and she just goes right through everyone. Playing as Kat means you can't get CC'd. If you get cc'd, you die.

You shouldn't be going in until mid-fight or near the end. Your team mates will hate you if they lose the fight because u did "nothing" but that's just how it goes when you play an opportunistic champion.

Going in when everyone has their CDs means you will die.

Kat has no escapes if she doesn't get a kill or survives long enough to catch a dagger.

In team fights, you do Q - E to dagger - W R E to enemy. Of course this rarely ever happens because you'll die/they die but yeah. Also, she's like last place in deaths so don't feel bad about dying a lot. It's what happens when you play an assassin that actually punishes u for fucking up. leblanc and zed cough
