Neeko's Overloaded Ultimate

As many people who have seen any game play of Neeko the new champion, it is a common thought that her ultimate is over loaded as in it has too many things going on within it, for example it has: a slow, a shield, brief invisibility (when casting as someone else), a stun and some fairly decent damage. To me this is just too much to have in one ability.

I haven't personally played the champion as i don't have a PBE account but I've watched many videos on her mainly videos from HuzzyGames who is someone who i trust when it comes to giving feedback on new champions as he has a good track record of predicting new champions strengths and its through his videos i have formulated these ideas for what i believe could make her ultimate less overloaded and more balanced so without anymore time wasting here's my idea.

what do u think of this as a way to balance her ult. lets say her ult does 1000 damage in this hypothetical situation. so for her initial charge up phase the ability to slow is removed, the shield is removed and the invisibility during the charge up phase is also removed(only invisible if shes someone else) but in stead it now does an initial 500 damage when u first cast the ability, then she does her jump into the air comes down does another 500 damage + the stun. this would remove 3 things from her ult making it less overloaded, split up the damage into 2 halves so its not as easily countered by someone pressing Vladimir w or Xayah r since they get hit by initial damage but dodge 2nd half and stun. but you could also keep the slow in her ult if you built for it in your build Ex Rylai's. i feel like this could possibly be a good change as it can no longer be countered by 1 spell, not as overloaded, but retains some of the abilities if built for it. for her damage ratios I don't know exact numbers but i was thinking whatever her current ratio is should be split evenly between the initial charge up damage and 2nd slam damage/stun so a 50/50 split between the two parts rather than 100% at the end like now

anyway thanks for reading if you do would love to hear your thoughts or others thoughts.

Her ult isn't overloaded, tho.

It's AoE damage, a shield, and a slow that turns into a stun.

It's basically the same as Nunu's ult except the CC is applied differently.

You can't count other parts of their kit as part of the ultimate, unless the intent of that ability is just to enhance it (such as the active on Varus's W counting for his Q). Her passive is not part of her ultimate.

you just explained the problem with her ult by bringing up Nunu as hes the closest comparison Nunu's ult is an example of a balanced version of Neeko's ult it has 2 core concepts 1 beings it slows you (as being trapped in a snow storm would) and 2 being percentage damage (as in the longer its cast the more damage it does) it also has a hidden passive being if cast in a bush you cant see it unless you have vision within the bush. The reason this is balanced in my opinion and Neeko's Isn't is because it has 2 core mechanics with the charge up being able to be canceled early resulting in less damage.

where as with Neeko's ult everything i stated directly is apart of her ult or affect her ult alone, she has a slow(same as Nunu), a shield(Nunu doesn't have), a stun(Nunu doesn't have), invisibility (if ult is cast when hiding as someone else character, only initial charge is affected Nunu does technically have) while also having damage equal to or higher than Nunu.

if we want Neeko to be balanced and unique i believe everything shared with Nunu should be removed so that eliminates the slow, and invisibility, her shield is debatable but id say it should be removed. but the way the stun and damage is dealt should be changed as well as from my knowledge it cant be stopped(as I've never seen it happen) so separating her damage to 2 halves would make the damage more consitant as it cant be countered by 1 ability unless predicted while also applying the slow if built for(so the slow I'snt fully removed just restricted) and the stun I'snt changed at all.

so to sum this up since its abit messy,

Nunu has: slow, increased damage over time and situational invisibility Neeko has currently: slow, shield, situational invisibility, stun and flat damage Neeko has after my change: situational slow with rylais, stun, 2 damage phases

"my" Neeko makes her more unique and seperate from Nunu while keeping the core concept intact and balanced by giving people without invulnrabilities more time and oppitunity to react.

Quick not on this line "Her passive is not part of her ultimate." you're correct her passive isnt apart of her ult but the part im talking about the "intial charge up invisibility" only affects her ult as all other abilities immediately turn u back to neeko while her ultimate has an hidden charge up time when "pretending to be someone else" this takes away alo of time for people like ashe to react as there only escape is flash so they dont have a chance to react by walking out there last hope is a quick flash out which isnt a reliable option.

the ONLY differnce is nunu has to charge up for about 5 seconds to do damage neeko can freely move/flash while being able to cast other abilities while doing MORE then nunu fully charged that also gives her a shield and stuns enemys while also giving invicablity and there is no way to stop it unless you a champ on your team that has a knockback oh shit that is op all that in one ability

Its a good ult but basically the same as Nunu pretty uncreative.

thats what i hope to achieve with this suggestion too

Nunu has: slow, increased damage over time and situational invisibility Neeko has currently: slow, shield, situational invisibility, stun and flat damage Neeko has after my change: situational slow with rylais, stun, 2 damage phases

my idea helps separate the 2 ults without taking away from what they intended her ult to be. They'll still be similar but serve different reasons

Nunu: splitting up a fight by forcing enemies back out of your ult or receiving large amount of damage and forcing them to use cc on you Neeko: provide large amount of damage and cc or force abilities like vlad w and/or zhonyas and flash

I think my point has even more proof now that she has been released

its a god damn ult what did you think it would be?you want it to be simply go play Kassadin if you want a simple ult.Making an ult do less things doesnt make it more balanced

Vellarin2 votes

well 1 I'm not making it more simple if anything I'm making it harder to pull off as its taking away all the hand holding aspects of it for Example: The "invisibility" nobody expects someone like a Garen charging at you to all of a sudden drop a team wide cc bomb The shield I've seen many plays where someone goes in low health cast ult avoids death due to shield and gets out alive due to the cc And the slow makes it harder to setup when there not slowed to keep them in it (buying rylais with my concept brings back the slow though)

and 2 removing stuff in this case to me does make it more balanced as its less oppressive to play against by allowing for more opportunities to counter the ability but also adding more opportunities for the caster to not have their entire ult countered by one ability
