When is a troll pick not a troll pick?

Lux Morgana bot lane. Tried it in normals a handful of times and it's:

  • SO much fun
  • Possibly OP??? (need more games to determine if actually true)
  • Works surprisingly well in team comp, provided you make your team aware and take an AD jungler and top lane. Or even Yasuo or similar AD mid.
  • worth mentioning how much fun it is again

The basic build is Lux takes Spellthief's and pokes/harasses and Morgana farms. Once Lux gets Eye of whatever the frostfang/sightstone item is she builds AP and Morgana just goes flat out AP carry build. Even if the enemy rushes MR they sacrifice damage and there's enough CC to keep them from unleashing.

  • Stomp lane
  • CC, AoE and destroy teamfights
  • be terrible at pushing down towers. It may not be perfect but it's worked thus far.

My question is, if I take this to ranked will I be messing up any of my team's super fun time? I fully expect to be reported for being off-meta, and that's fine. I'm sure Riot won't ban me for my pick.

But, the last thing I want to do is mess things up for my team mates.

(Yes, I am a n00b. I hit lvl30 a month ago) (Sorry if this is on the wrong board)

ADC in the bot lane with the Support is just the meta, not the "right" thing per se. You want a healthy variety of damage on your team so the enemy has to split their defensive itemization, so if your bot lane carry is AP you probably want an ADC somewhere else (I'd say mid, since the APC usually goes there).

If your team is ok with you playing outside the meta then it's fine, but you should ask them first. You aren't obligated to do what they want, but it is a team game after all. I'd suggest to more or less stick to the meta in Ranked to avoid problems; playing in premade groups or Team Builder is a great way to play things like this without stepping on any toes (there is Team Ranked, and Dynamic groups next season also).

Here's what I have to say on the matter. If they don't like it? Oh well, you can't be banned for it. I was a fan of Graves Jungle(pre-rework) and won multiple games after my team fed(after calling me noob). If you can win with it, use it, have fun

This is what i consider a troll pick:

Picking Zilean jungle is not a troll pick. Feeding and failing at Zilean jungle is a troll pick.

Yes your teammates will flame you in ranked for playing anything but the meta 10 champs. The only problem with a full ap bot lane is that the second you leave lane, you're going to lose all your towers.

As long as you KNOW what you are doing and how to approach different situations. Your choice is NOT a troll pick.

Orginally Morgana was considered a "Troll" Support for quite some time way back in the day (I did research)... That is until these Champions became the go to supports: Thresh Blitzcrank Leona

She practically hard countered them by using her Black Shield. It makes the target IMMUNE to all Crowd Control effects while it lasts! Which meant no engage for the enemy laners.
