hi guys i just got the new yorick and i keep watching people playing it with hextech gunblade is it a really good item for him?and does he scale well with AP or AD

People are most likely building Hextech Gunblade because of its healing passive: 'Instantly heal for 15% of all damage dealt, including physical, magical and true damage.' This synergises with Yorick's Q, which also heals him. However, the 80 AP part of the item is pretty useless if you're building full AD Yorick.

AP Yorick would definitely be the non-meta build, as the only ability that scales off AP is his E (70% AP). It doesn't seem like a good choice in my opinion because his ghosts, AA's, and ultimate (the Mist Maiden) will be weak; those things all scale with AD. You might see people go with a hybrid build (in which they'd get Gunblade), but I think hybrid builds only work on champs that do a close mix of Magic and Physical damage (e.g. Teemo Akali Kayle ).

Almost as a joke, Riot Solcrushed added an AP element to New Yorick's E to "support off-meta builds" and the like.

What New Yorick scales best off of is AD, CDR and Health with Tri-Force being pivotal.

Gunblade doesn't seem practical for Yorick.

Sustain comes from hp5, lifesteal, spell vamp, Death`s Dance, and Hextech Gunblade.

Hp5 will always be good.

Lifesteal is not good because it only works on-hit, which Yorick does not do as much as other champions. He is now even more of a caster now. His Mist Walkers attacks don't count as on hit.

Spell vamp barely exists anymore.

Yorick does scale better with AD, so Death's Dance is logically good on him, but it only works with physical damage. Auto attacks, Mist Walkers, and Last Rites, are his sources of physical damage.

Hextech Gunblades passive works on all of his physical damage sources and his magic damage. Mourning Mist, and the *Maiden of the Mist* deal magic damage. His auto attacks in coordination with his Maidens attacks even deal magic damage based on % max health.
