What was Death Fire Grasp?

Hello everyone!

I was watching some of my favorite LoL youtubers videos and I came across and item called DFG in one of the videos I watched. I never felt the joy of building one cause when I started league it was already gone. In the old youtube videos where people play my favorite champ , they always built DFG so I was wondering what the item actually does (I know it's a point and click projectile thingy) ... What was it's stats? and what did the active do? And why was it removed in the game in the first place? How much did it cost?

120 AP 10% Cooldown

Active: Caused enemies to take % extra damage. It was great for letting mages- AP assassins in particular- nuke pretty much any target. It was an early item, designed to make tanks manageable.

But it was too powerful and too limiting, so it was removed.

120 AP 10% CDR

Active Unique: Deals 15% of target champion's maximum health in magic damage and applies the debuff, Doom. Doom amplifies all magic damage that champion takes by 20% for 4 seconds. 90 second cooldown (750 range).

To give you some more historical context with Ahri and DFG. Ahri also had at that time, a damage amp on her charm. That damage amp, + that on DFG, means her full combo was instant death.

And back then that was the idea. DFG was the primer AP Assassin item. But Riot had a serious problem with it's assassination power. Mainly that just about any mage could pick it up, and become an Assassin. So they got rid of it. And when that happened, they also decided that Ahri should be rebalanced more like a mage. They got rid of her damage amp, and spread the damage more evenly across her kit. (But mainly in her Q, as it's her main wave clear) And she also got the speed mechanic that her Q currently has.

DFG was one of the most broken items in the game it was designed with the intent to be a tank counter , well it did that and killed every thing else, every one every ap champ ( even a few non ap champs ) ( i went Garen with DFG item 3068 item 3071 and magic pen runes/ ult too strong lol) would rush the item and there was zero to no counter play it was basically an ap nuke item that made a fed Veigar ult seem weak in comparison.

It's a diety, one day when tanks come to oppress us poor peasant players, dfg will return and shit fury over everyone's mouths, not even those who were meant to be saved by it will be saved
