I played Orianna a couple of weeks ago when she was free, and loved her. So for some unknown reason, I spent all my IP on Kalista! Yeah, I know. I don't even like ADCing.
But I LOVE Orianna. I'm considering making her my new main. I bought her a couple days ago, But I never see people playing her. Why not?

But Orianna was hit hard by the mana-regen nerfs. Usually you stack 
on her, but it gives really crappy levels of mana regen, so it's still hard to use her in lane without going OOM. Her passive is a life-saver for winning trades against most mid-lane mages, and her ult is just godly in AOE teamcomps (Amumu, Malphite, Sejuani, Vel'Koz, Annie, etc.)... she's also got a high skillcap.
Sirsir2 votesShe lacks damage and/or range compared to other mids and she is hard to play and suffers from mana issues a bit longer than most. But she functions as an amazing follow up initiator, and can make people that usually can't initiate that well into good initiators, and has a giant shield for her teammates.

Most recently and it wasn't even for being played often... they called it compensation buffs. Ha. 
WhiskerWow1 votesShe's cool. Her GLaDOS-like personality is what drew me to her. She was, I think my sixth champion? 4th if you don't consider the free ones.
Anyways, she is one of the immobile mages, which is one of the main reasons she isn't played. However, if she gets fed, she has the most disgusting poke in the game with her QW.
She reminds me of an Annie with less burst and more poke, and shorter AA range and higher ability range.
