What Ryze needs is for the ult to feel smoother (that camera pan shit is obnoxious) and for a reduction in E's mana cost. Other than that, they can give back his mana scalings and maybe a bit of level 1 base damage. I mean, when my auto attack feels like better damage than one of my spells, that feels really awful. Season 4 Ryze had a 6.5 maximum mana scaling. Season 5 Ryze has 4% maximum mana scaling (which is pretty sick considering how many Qs he used to be able to get off in a combo: ~9). Now with the current Ryze, which casts spells at around the same speed as Season 4 Ryze, has a 3% BONUS mana ratio. Yes, this number is technically bigger than it looks because you get more bonus mana if you build more AP. But even with 1000 AP. the amount of damage you get from the mana you buy is 4.5%, plus 1.5% of your base. So the damage is still lower. This is ignoring the fact that you can't even build 1k AP on Ryze. I mean, you actually get more damage from building AP than you do for building mana. I understand that they don't want an unkillable Ryze to come back into the meta, but seriously... Your "scaling" items don't even give you decent damage. So you're sinking a ton of gold into items that literally give you next to no value until around the 25-30 minute mark.
