ADC's are ranged!!! They're broken, nerf them

Basically all the solo laners on the boards right now. Players are complaining about ridiculous things. Like how ranged have more movement speed than melees or how they do damage. Is that not their job? Mean while we've got melees such as Nasus Chogath Kled XinZhao MonkeyKing Vi Shen Poppy Renekton Garen Camille etc. Not including actives such as item 3142 item 3742 item 3800 that give plenty of movement speed.

Not sure why everyone's hating on ADC's yes they do damage its their job. However if you also build damage you will also be able to one shot them. Many tanks do damage too. If the enemy team is peeling their carry very well, peel for yours. Each team has an attack damage carry. Most ADC's are immobile. If you main tank tops and you want to do damage switch to Fiora Riven Camille Illaoi etc. Don't expect to 100-0 an ADC as Maokai .

I have zero issue with the idea that all 1v1s, assuming mutual counterbuilding, should be able to go either way

A maokai who can survive for up to 10 seconds of adc damage should be able to kill the adc in that timeframe

The issue is when an adc needs 5 seconds to kill maokai but he needs 15 seconds to kill the adc

"Most ADCs are immobile." A lot of ADCs have some kind of movespeed steroid, dash, or in Kalista's case some built-in kiting while attacking. If an adc doesn't have a movement skill, you can bet they have a slow or root on par with most slowing/root skills that would be used by melee champs trying to lock them down.

It is the same thing with mobility. Riot's balance team systematically undervalued range (and mobility) when creating a champion power budget. As a result, ranged champions are systematically stronger than their melee counterparts with similar qualities.

Note that ranged is not the only thing riot undervalues so not all ranged champions are stronger than melee. Riot also undervalues mobility (amount other qualities) so an immobile ranged champion can easily be weaker than a melee mobile champion.

Also, this is more of a systemic problem which stretches across patches but the imbalance is not as overt as other issues. The champions who are broken on any given patch (sion last patch) will be more broken than the ranged class as a whole. However, over the course of 8 years, every archetype moves in and out of the meta besides marksmen because riot's systematic undervaluation of a ranged auto attack make marksmen as a whole more overpowered than other archetypes.

The problems with marksmen tend to be more subtle than other balance issues so it is hard to see without analyzing historic patches.
