2W-7L Bronze 3 Player in Upper Gold/Low Plat MMR Ranked Game.

Can someone explain this to me? I know with the changes they made that there are people with ranks that are extremely disjointed from their MMR, but that is not the case here. The player in question has only recently started playing their ranked games for season 8 (starting from gold season 7) going LLWLLLLW in their placements.

Perhaps it was some kind of compensation for our team being 4 Plats against a mix of silver + gold this doesn't seem like an acceptable form of balancing, especially since we don't (and wouldn't want to) see actual gold players randomly being thrown into masters games.

I hate the idea that Silver players can play with Plats. It should literally be no lower then G4 playing with any Plat player in the game. Let alone Bronze.

It shouldn't even be that much difference. A range of 2 divisions up or down would be more than enough.

Which would be fair as well.

Bronze in platinium

This is one of my last games. It was unwinnable. My adc was from bronze and had the skills of bronze. Not blaming the guy , its not his fault that the game placed him there but there is a huge gap between skills in bronze and platinium. He couldnt trade, poke, farm, poor map awareness even when warded, almost zero co-op with the team. 4 tiers difference

At the time of that game, your bronze player was 20W-10L and was consistently being matched into Gold 1 MMR games.

At the time of OP's game the bronze player was 2W-7L and was consistently getting matched into Silver 1 MMR games.

Still 4 tiers difference is a big deal. I dont know how MMR works but placing someone so much above his rank is making tier look unnecessary. If he is a good bronze (20-10 as you said) place him to play with silvers, if he is a good silver place him in some gold games. But placing a good silver player in platinium seems broken to me. I had a very huge win streak recently, I was getting good teams and everything was going smooth. I had the feeling that I cant lose the game, that was how easy it was. I was getting 3(4) wins and 1 lose and again 3(4) wins and 1 lose and again and again untill i lost 3 games in a row. Then it seems that my MMR dropped a lot and then the game gave me really bad teams. I mean really bad, those kind that dont focus on the game but focus on flaming, they didnt care if we win or lose. The opposite happened. I had the feeling that whatever I do I cant win the game. And with each loss I got even more less skilled teams to the point where I saw a bronze player in my game. I have seen golds, yea its good. But bronze is like instant lose. No offence to the people from the bronze but its like placing me in Challenger game. The current ranked system has its flaws.

I've just finished leveling an account on the LAN server.

It was placed Iron 2 and I was already facing high Silver players. It's currently Bronze 4 with high Silver MMR. My LP gains are huge. I gain 30 LP per game and skip promotions. One game I even got 32 LP. Even though it looks mismatched, it's all about the MMR. I think Riot was too liberal with the starting MMR of accounts under the new ranked system.

I wouldn't be too hung up about it. I bet some one these Silver players I played against are wondering how an Iron player is performing so well in their Silver games. Although I believe that I should have been given a true Iron MMR, the point that it is MMR that is being used to match is the important thing. So if you have a Bronze player in Platinum games, it is because his MMR is Platinum. It is entirely possible that said player is indeed a Platinum player.

That being said, next season they will address this mismatch of MMR and rank.

I don't feel like you read the post or dug deeper into the situation. The player does not have platinum MMR. It is not possible.

Doing a little sneak peak on op.gg. It appears the Bronze player was gold in season 7. They lost a few games, but since their account was already ranked before, their MMR doesn't drop a lot form only 7 losses.

Players that didn't play in Season 8 were all given Iron 4. The Bronze 3 player account in question was Plat in S4 and Gold in 5, 6 and 7. So the Account has likely middle gold MMR. You're match up based on your MMR not your rank.

Gold season 7 and then 2-6 in season 8 placements does not result in mid gold MMR.
