Viktor is a gold mine waiting to be discovered

...by the community AND the pro scene too. Viktor has always been a fantastic, super fun and super usable mid laner, but his pre-rework version did had the "sixth item problem" by the late game and it really used to feel like he drops off compared to the six-slotted enemy mid laner. Don't get me wrong though, the old hexcore was still a massive power spike as soon as you gathered 1000g and as a result he had a stronger mid game than most.

Enters reworked Viktor, and now things got really different. He still has a formidable early game, the same amazing power spike as soon as you have your first upgrade... but now you scale like a BEAST. His late game is absolutely out of this world now that you have access to turbocharge, a mini Orianna ult on his W, a laser with pretty much 1.0 AP ratio, a really fast and ridiculously strong ult, 500 mana (he used to have mana problems even at the late game due to really high costs) and 168 AP. And that's just one item.

Let's talk about Siphon Power now. I don't think many people have paid enough attention to his new Q yet or they'd be using Viktor much, much more. That thing has 2.65 secs cd if you manage to reach max cdr and it gives you 30% movement speed for 2.5 secs. This pretty much means you can spam it forever and become the fastest motherfucker in the game. Combine this with furor boots and you get even faster, but to make things much more ridiculous, add Rylai to your build and on top of that all you make your target permanently 35% slowed. The huge difference between your movement speed and your target's allows for perfect gravity field placements, meaning they will get stunned or burn a flash/escape, good luck trying to escape from Usain Bolt Viktor while he cripples you though.

If his Q was just this crazy chase + shield mechanism on such a low cd it'd already be a great skill, but it also gives you that absolutely insane discharged autoattack that, combined with Lich Bane, wrecks the very soul of anyone that dares to get anywhere near you. A lich bane'd discharge plus laser kills literally every single champion without MR items, and he can use both skills literally **at the same time. ** It's instant death.

Q really is Viktor strongest spell now, by far. Insane damage, great mobility, a potential slow on an enemy if you build rylai (and you should to exploit his Q) and a shield that, even if not amazing, you'll have again after 2.6 secs. Hell, Siphon Power alone is enough reason to like champion, but then you remember he also has one of the best non-ult AoE stuns in the whole game (especially now with Event Horizon nerfed) and two crazy strong AoE damage spells.

Seriously. One little push and Viktor will explode as the next huge FOTM. I honestly believe he's easily one of the top 3 AP mids in the game right now.

Shhht! Don't tell anyone. Not now that I have started playing him!

His only problem is how slow and unreliable his stun is. But yeah, he's fun.

I do agree he is an excelent mid range mage. Maybe he'll be picked up once this mobility meta dies down a bit?

Right now he's already doing great against them AND, like I said, he does have a fantastic movement speed mechanism once you have augment Q and furor enchantment. Surely it's not a jump/blink skill, but it also gives you a shield and access to a huge burst on discharge. All this on an easy-to-reach-less-than-3-secs cd.

Most pros are saying great things about Viktor. But he's not that much better than Xerath, Cassiopeia, Lissandra, or Orianna to worth the extra effort spent in learning him when they could be perfecting their skills with above 4. He doesn't excel much in either utility, range, or damage compared the above 4 and has low mobility on top of that (Q mobility is really insignificant with so much dashes around). We will definitely see him around if they get nerfed though.

He excels at the three things on different levels depending on which of these 4 you're comparing him with. Less utility than Ori but much more damage and harass potential with the laser at higher ranges. He actually does MUCH more damage than all these champions, while also having a bit of everything. He can use the laser while walking/casting other skills, which means he can use 2 damaging spells at once. Discharge + laser hits for around 1.6k damage, instantly. Not even LB bursts at his speed, though of course she has mobility imbued in her burst to go in and out.
