Electrocute doesn't proc on Kennen's empowered Autoattack + W like Thunderlords did before

  1. Stack 4 charges on Kennen
  2. Autoattack your opponent with the W-empowered Autoattack (= 2 Thunderlord stacks before, but only 1 Electrocute stack now)
  3. Press W (= procs Thunderlord, does not proc Electrocute)

This is a HUGE nerf to his laning phase, where most of his trading power relied on this combination, especially against oppressive enemies, where you are happy about sneaking in those W-autoattacks.

I bet other champs are sad too :/

Yes electrocute was intentionally made much more of a niche pick by making it much harder to proc on most champions, but still very easy for some. Apparently, RIOT enjoys having a difficult time balancing their game.

Given its much longer cooldown than Thunderlords, only slightly balanced by the fact that Electrocute deals more damage, I see pretty much no reason to not make Electrocute behave as Thunderlords before.

Nm. just realized you were agreeing with me.

One reason would be that since there are so few keystones relative to champions they should be designed to used optimally by as large a group as possible. Other wise you end up having to balance it around the small group that can use the keystone best, which makes the key stone very weak on everyone else.

Yeah, of course I agreed with you :D

Well, before we had 9 keystones, now 15. And electrocute==thunderlords would simply allow 6 new keystones to be niche or even meta picks for certain champions. No need to balance something like Thunderlords, that has been balanced for a whole year.

You're backwards. Having keystone choices be more distinct and tied to specific champions and strategies means that they actually can be more easily balanced because tweaking electrocute's numbers only affects champions that can easily proc it.

Only if there is enough keystones so that every champion has a niche keystone available to them. Which there isn't. Also, that's boring being forced into the same keystone.

Even if you were forced into a specific keystone in the old system, you still had a lot of freedom with runes which had a big effect on the early game.

Not only that, but Doran's Blade nerfed his laning phase aswell, you don't even start with 27 AP because of the stupid Adaptive Damage passive swapping it out for the stupid 18something AD when buying it, unless going AD was your plan all along.

noticed that cant get electrocute to go off on fid ew or on morg auto-w's. oh well. guess we'll have to go champ by champ spell by spell trying to figure out what this works on like back when had to do that with other spells or abilities or masteries. love how u hafta test every thing in this game. and then do it all over again.

edit: edited this 6 months later. Noticed somewhere along the way damage causing runes at least some are treated as a damaging spell with regard to procing electrocute. Had the one that procced on fear/cc initially set and E/W is just 2 spells. but QEW is 3. But wanted it like old Thunderlords or current phaserush; and swapping that one cc rune to the other dmg rune makes it work so EW does it alone(plus the rune for #3). dunno why they have to make electrocute wording same as phaserush/thunderlords then have it function so different just to screw people up.
