-Update- Shield amount is generated from yourself. -Update-

While theory crafting a way to hasten the arrival of the tank meta I stumbled on a question that I need some help figuring out after a few hours of digging for myself and finding nothing.

When buying Knight's Vow with the Overheal rune, does this combo generate shield based on your ally generating the healing (their damage) or yourself generating the healing (your items)? I currently dont have an easy way to test this myself at the moment so if anyone knows please let me know. Thanks in advance!

Took it to custom. Looks like it generate the shield just fine, But the AI takeing damage ment that shield never became really big. Its a tiny tiny sliver of shield lol. blocked a max of 14 damage with the overheal rune. https://imgur.com/a/OO6i4Da shows the rune blocked all of 2 damage.

Hmm, suppose it could synergize; drop me a line if you want to try it out in a custom or something.

This would require an adc that you can trust. it wont work on anyone else due to too low damage output and not enough range to leverage damage. Knights vow feels so bad they gutted its armor and hp why isnt this item 50 armor 250 hp or 40 armor 400 hp

Huh, that is an amazing question. Since it’s YOUR item, I’d guess it’s using your side of the equation. Even if it’s using an allies damage, the source is an item you own if that makes more sense.

Though that’s only a guess. Really not sure and want to see Riots answer.

Long time ago Knights vow counted as healing done by your ally. This caused some insane synergy with the old mastery Windspeaker's Blessing and Athenes Unholy grain. You could get Athenes on any champ without healing and get your ally to buy Knights vow. This pretty much more than doubled healing and also did full healing on AoE damage (not 1/3) while maintaining almost permanent uptime on Windspeekers Blessing.

They removed this interaction before rune reforged by changing healing from knights vow to count as your own. This means that overheal will only be 40% and not 300%. They ninja fixed this as its not stated in any patch notes.
