10 bans is dumb here's why

Chief Bandit··2 votes·1,424 views

having 6 bans total is more than enough. not only will we have to wait for 4 more bans but how many times a day do we get trolls in the lobby that dodge right before the game starts... now we have to sit for another 2-5mins sometimes longer just to find another lobby, wait through 10 bans, pick 10 champions, only to get another troll to dodge. if it happened twice to ME then i would say fuck it im going to aram. why are 10 bans necessary to have? Is it because people are whining and complaining about being the first 2 to pick and dont get a ban? is it for competitive reasons? I just cant find a reason that would justify why this update was needed and in my own opinion this was a waste of time for rito and now will be a waste of time for players in league.

Educate yourself please and find out how the new system works before commenting on it.

I fully support and endorse calling out Riot on their BS as loudly as possible but in in this instance you are just complaining about the system without seeing how it works first. I'd like to actually see more people keep complaining that the new client interface isn't performant enough even on Low-Spec mode. (see what I did there?)

i still dont agree though. i see its more convenient but the point is that its unnecessary 6 bans is more than enough.

Then you're just being pig-headed for no real reason.

The 10 ban system doesn't work the way it used to anymore. What will happen is your entire team puts in their bans AS SOON AS THE PICK INTENT TIMER RUNS OUT, then every player on your team can declare ban intent.

After the time runs out, bans go through. There is some bad to this, though. You can't see your opponents bans and make plans based off that... which I think is a step back, in my opinion. Forsaking strategy because people are impatient.

Some required reading here.

The problem is that 6 bans is far from being enough. I mean even the statistically broken champs alone are probably more than 6, then you have to get through the champs who are not exactly broken but are just so toxic by design nobody wants to deal with them, and then you get to the actual champs you want to ban for strategic reasons. With all these in mind, 6 bans is clearly not enough.

If League exists in a vacuum, then maybe, but even still I doubt that's enough given the fact the roster is some 130 nearly 140 champs.

EDIT: I didn't read about how the banning works mechanically now too.

6 bans existed since release of League (when there were like 40 champions). Which made those 6 bans really impactful back then. So after so many champions 6 bans is totally not enough.

Digging back through old forum posts, it looks like League started with 4 bans, then bumped up to 6 in 2011 (right after Fizz was release, so 87 champions).

Chief Bandit1 votes

so we get 10 bans because people can't face a challenge? that doesn't justify at all

DrCyanide1 votes

Bans are a way to compensate for the Balance Team's mistakes, as well as a way to allow a certain strategy or pick to be more successful. As more champions are released, there are more chances for mistakes to happen and more champions need to be removed to allow a certain pick/strategy to work.

6 bans was announced after Fizz was released, back in 2011. At the time, League of Legends had 87 champions, so 6 bans was about 7% of the total champion pool.

We currently have 136 champions, so 6 bans is about 4% of the champion pool. 10 bans brings it back to about 7% of the champion pool.

So Fizz has always been cancer, so cancer he has bumped the ban count up twice. Good to know.

honestly, I like the new system up up to 10 bans

I always thought 10 bans would be too much but 6 was often times too small and allowed the same champs to be picked over and over again. Having up to 10 bans is a nice inbetweener between the two sides of the argument that I agree with.

People may disagree, but I'd urge you guys to have a discussion rather than downvoting any opinion that differs from your own. I'd be down to talk about it

im up for discussion. i wanted to post my opinion so people know exactly where i stand. for now i dislike it, but im very certain with time ill get used to it. as i did all changes since since the beginning

tfw I still hate how the new jungle got needlessly "changed" (dumbed down) for season 7 >:(

but ya, I've noticed that the full 10 ban system was really only supported by people among the boards/reddit where there's always a champion to complain about. It seemed like a very trivial thing for the boards to be raging at Riot over, one thread I remember was saying how Riot never delivers fully on their promises and used this latest ban system as an example.

It just made me kinda annoyed cuz like...did people actually think 10 bans was going to be acceptable? that's 2 team's worth of champions. That's most people's champion pool sizes right there. Having 5-10 bans is a lot better than a set 6 imo

You also have blind pick

We don't wait for 4 more bans. Everyone picks their bans at the same time. Read about the system before complaining.

Is it bad that reading the title reminded me of the kind of ads that try to sell you "10 tips on how to make your penis bigger"?

There shouldn't be any bans at all.

  1. Faster game starts
  2. You're encouraged to learn to play against everything
  3. Less of an excuse for Riot to be lazy in balancing
  4. If it's so OP, pick it and see for yourself
Chief Bandit1 votes

YES this is exactly what im saying. people can't take a challenge.

Andrey03452 votes

It's not about challenge. Playing against something you don't like over and over again can't be fun and that's why people play. Why do we have to face annoying and unhealthy champions? Sometimes they are not hard to deal with, they are just stupid and annoying in their design. That's why people hate champions like Yasuo, not because he is overpowered.

UnboundHades1 votes

you shouldn't comment and heres why

  1. higher average IQ on boards
  2. less times I have to downvote 3.faster time time going through comments without seeing a troll
WitchQueen Annie1 votes
  1. You're a terribly mistaken if you think 1 less poster would result in any measurable change to the average IQ on the board given the large number of posters, I recommend taking basic Statistics (or retaking it)

  2. I don't see why I should tailor my posting habits for your convenience. It's rather self-centred to be honest. You can allocate yourself as much (or as little) time to down vote other people's comments, it doesn't concern me. In fact, in general its a rather childish thing to do. When I see a comment I don't like or agree with, I simply express why I disagree. This isn't really supposed to be a popularity contest. Note how I have not down voted your comment.

  3. You seem to be under the mistaken impression that disagreement with your views = trolling

Go play blind pick Problem solved

WitchQueen Annie1 votes

I do play lots of blind (to practice against random match ups).

But they are going to import it into Ranked right?

Chief Bandit1 votes

so after some researching. although its everyone banning 10 champs at the same time i still don't agree with 10 bans. they can make it faster but its still 10 bans. i do not care for how many champs there are. i thoroughly enjoy the challenge league brings to the table for me. And im a former maplestory player (not that this is anything like LoL) but nexon has made changes to MS that made the game easier for players who no longer enjoyed taking the time to get good at the game. Im afraid that in the future league could possibly be going down that path.
