Support Secondary (AKA Support Primary)
I'm a player that typically picked jungle primary and support secondary. I don't mind playing support even if it were 50% of the time. What I've discovered is that I end up playing support closer to 90% of the time. This has led me to actually stop picking support as a secondary, and instead opt to pick top or mid instead.
What I'm concerned about is similar players who would otherwise pick support secondary or fill choosing something else. The people who choose to play support are clearly in the minority, and the new champion select ends up forcing them away. This results in a smaller pool of available support players. What ends up happening is longer queue times, or people trying to trade roles, which are two of the main issues I thought the new champion select was going to address.
I like the new champion select overall, but there has to be a better way. What if you had a scaling percentage check on secondary roles as queue time increases for that player? For example, every 15 seconds there was a 5% greater chance of getting your secondary role. This means instant pop queues are guaranteed to be your primary role. After 1 minute it'd be a 20% chance, 2 minutes 40%, etc. until you are into a "first available" after 5 minutes.
The downside is possibly slightly longer initial queue times, but you'll curtain a dangerous trend of a dwindling role. Players of course can cancel queue to "reset" their chance at primary role, but they're putting themselves back at the end of the line, which may be an effective deterrent.
