Why is matchmaking complete garbage?

I used to really enjoy your game riot but every game i play now is completely one sided where me as a new player is consistently matched against players who are level 30 while ive been level 22-28 currently, with some having literally thousands of wins, how is that fair matchmaking? i havent even played 200 games and ill play someone with 1500 wins? alright... really need to work on a better matchmaking criteria or something because the game is not fun in those situations, anyone else feel this way?
