Issues with Deathfire Touch's Discription

Now this may not confuse anyone else but the tooltip on Deathfire Touch is rather unclear. "Your damaging abilities cause enemy champions to take magic damage equal to 8 + 60% of your Bonus Attack Damage and 25% of your Ability Power, over 4 seconds. Deathfire Touch has reduced effectiveness when applied by area of effect and damage over time abilities.

  • Area of effect: 2 second duration
  • Damage over time: 1 second duration"

Do you see why I'm confused? Even though I know now that it does half or a quarter of the damage when applied by aoe and dot abilities, it took me looking it up to find out. The way it is worded it sounds like it does the same amount of damage over a shorter duration.

A better way to word it would be: "Your damaging abilities cause enemy champions to take magic damage equal to 2 + 15% of your Attack Damage and 6.25% of your ability power per second, for 4 seconds. Deathfire Touch has reduced effectiveness when applied by area of effect and damage over time abilities.

  • Area of effect: 2 second duration
  • Damage over time: 1 second duration"

Although it isn't a necessary thing to change, I'm sure it would help with clarity, which Riot is trying to increase in many places.

i think its saying that it will do half the damage for aoe spells. and for dot its 1/4. but what if its both. like teemo shrooms?. idk its really poorly worded. and it doesn't say that it does less damage. it says less duration which makes you think. does it do the same amount of damage but in a more bursty less time on it kind of thing. extremely poorly worded. anyway dft is garbage that almost nobody should use. your better off getting tank keystones on any squishy ap champ that needs that extra damage. or you know. thunderlords.

Yeah, it's annoyed me since it came out. I hate when things like this are worded poorly, all it does is confuse people.

Now it actually is no longer confusing.

Your wording cleared it up.

I knew something didnt add up. Or felt off. And then i reached a similar conclusion. But your wording helps out a lot.
