It's possible that you ran out of time, your time to kill him is limited, after the time limit he just goes around and oneshots you all.

I don't know what triggers the instant ult pop, maybe you guys were just way too close to each other before he even pulled you guys closer.

Yea, apart from the missions killing Odyssey for me- it's the chance of BS happening. The fact you may automatically lose because the RNG was against you with say, lux ult spams in Kayn's stage on Onslaught mode is utterly unfair. Riot doesn't seem to know how to even balance PvE ..... lmao.
