The state of ranked play in this game.
Is pitiful.
I've never seen a game where your overall score (rating) is impacted so greatly by the decisions of a single person. We've all had the 40min games that end up being decided by the one face-checked brush by a team mate causing them to die and letting the game spiral out of control. And that example is tame compared to the average choices ranked players make.
There are glaring problems in the way we approach climbing the ladder in light of these problems; "You have to carry, worry about yourself and you will climb the ladder" is one of the disingenuous and harmful statements I hear commonly repeated. In what world is that fair? I mean what does that say about us as a community when you aren't expected to simply go even in your land and preform your role effectively and efficiently, but to CARRY the slack of (an)other player(s).
Frequently I feel as if my ranked play is 4v6, as it is more often the case that I have a person, or persons. on my team who are completely outclassed in their lane and will refuse to sit back and be carried. But the former of those problems is also another of the core pillars of what is wrong with ranked.
There is a serious imbalanced in this game at lower "elos" (which in my experience is everything under diamond) and the fact that this disparity is never even discussed is disheartening.
