Unpopular opinion : most ranked result is decided by botlane issue

Your botlane win or ennemy botlane win, and everything works around that. No one will never fear about the 3/0 Darius top, but everyone will be scared when the ennemy ADC got a double kill early on.

  • Toplane, you will mostly pick a champion who can protect ADC very well (Malphite, Maokai, Ornn, Kayle), or who can disable someone easily (Pantheon, Malzahar, Wukong, Teemo). Also, all of this champions have a strong connections with some runes (After Shock and the Sorcery + Domination combo for most).

  • Midlane, you will pick hardcore bursters (Katarina, Vladimir, Anivia) or strong disablers who can also burst well (TF, Malzahar). If you are good enough, you can also pick champion who can deal a good job from a safe range (Jayce, Xerath, Aurelion Sol).

  • Jungle, you will pick something who can survive whatever your lanes are doing. A lot of tanks with good masteries (Rammus, Maokai, Shyvana) but also champions with unique mechanic (Xin Zhao, Jax).

  • Support, you have a lot of choice ... I mean a lot of pure defensive choice (Leona, Taric, Alistar)

Bruisers, melee duellists, most assassins, immobile APs, juggernauts, AP supports are troll picks now. Even something like a Tryndamere is a joke. Take Teemo, Q+AA level 2 => 1/3 hp. Later on that Tristana + Lulu will kill you before you was able to touch Tristana a single time, even if by miracle you have 5/0 and a QSS. And if you prefer lane versus a tank, enjoy your tentative to hurt a man with Aftershock :) ... Oh ... and i don't blame theses tanks with innate armor / MR bonus or huge shield who rush Aftershock : if they don't, they will die too quickly versus an ennemy adc feed.

I want ADCs to became non-mandatory. I don't want them to be weak, just equal in term of importance with other champion "classes". I see some thread about this here, most of them are highly upvoted. I also read some reflexions from rioters last year who want to make adcs less mandatory ... But everything they have done make them stronger, both if they are feed or not.

PS : of course, their is some exceptions, but most of them (not Yorick) are linked to ADCs state. Xin Zhao and Jax are not the only melee duellist with a good winrate just because they are good, but because they have both a strong mechanic to survive adc and their 50 tanks focus in addition of some CC and disengage capacity.

This is literally one of the most popular opinions on boards......

Less of an "unpopular opinion" and more of "common knowledge" at this point.

Unpopular opinion: the earth is round

It's not the be all and end all. If you check my match history, I had a bot lane that fed their ass off in my most recent ranked game, but we managed to come back

yeah its possible... but most of time...

If I play Warwick jungle, I have often found myself capable of disrupting nearly any but the most mismatched bot lanes. As Ziggs mid I often am able to generate as much or more lane pressure than the adcs. As ADC I often succeed or lose based on how the supports play.

Unpopular opinion: the game isn't decided by one role, item, or champion type. It is decided by teamwork. Plenty of the champs you imply are worthless are perfectly useful with the right strategy. Not every champ should be ideal for 5v5 fights. That is simply often "best" way to play with four strangers you haven't practiced with and lack voice comms.
