Hey guys, I am currently rated at Platinum III and main the following champions in the top lane: Singed, Malphite, Maokai(~), Tryndamere. I find myself in enourmous difficulties against ryze and vlad, but I feel like my champion pool doesn't allow me to do exceptionally well against these picks. What really frustrates me though is that I can't find a way to lane against Cho'gath.. I have tried all of this champs but find myself always beaten due to cho's extrem sustain and laning power.. Can anyone give me some advice on how to face Cho'gath in lane? with the champions i listed or with other ones you usually use in this matchup.

The main thing with Cho, is you gotta out sustain him. Yorick would be a great way to harass Cho, his W and his E provide good poke, it also keeps you off of cho, and once you get your tear, your mana becomes pretty negligible. Vladmir would be a better option than Yorick in most cases, simply because Yorick doesnt have much late game presence, and will do well against Cho for roughly the same reasons as Yorick.

The big thing is you need to beat Cho before he starts getting stacks. Untill he has max stack RoA and his Ulti Stacks get around the 5 mark, hes actually fairly squishy. If you can get Cho down, try and keep him down too, hes like Nasus, you gotta keep beating him after hes down otherwise he bounces back and its like nothing you did happened.

You need a champ that will keep Cho'gath off his CS with constant harass like somebody who relies on AAs to do damage and has a lot of sustain. Try Aatrox? I guess???

Irelia can beat him (before he gets really big), but you need to be good at predicting his knockup. If he falls behind, he can't do anything vs her burst and sustained dmg, but she can feed, if camped - some dmg from the jungler + nom nom ult = dead Irelia.

With Singed: just farm really. Trade in lane with him and farm, don't give him kills. Proxying is a bit less effective against Cho due to how he sustains by killing creeps. Get your Rod of Ages and some MR and he basically can't kill you solo unless you let him. Run circles around him and be a huge douchebag. Push the lane out and steal his jungler's blue, apply pressure to his or other lanes, etc. Fun champion, that Singed.

No idea on Malph and Maokai.

As Tryndamere: have you tried all-inning him at level 2? Especially after he used an ability. Tryndamere is a pretty big counter to Cho, since Cho's silence doesn't stop Tryndamere's main method of damaging him. Avoid the knock up and jump on him. If you can cheese him level 2 you'll snowball pretty hard.

Malphite can easily poke him and dodge skillshots with Q; whenever he misses one just go hard on him; with a decent laning phase you will outscale him
