Protobelt is actually a terrible item, and will slowly kill this game.

Protobelt is actually gonna kill this game, unless its taken out, has its price changed or its heavily nerfed. Hear me out:

For 400 gold less than Morellonomicon, you're getting 60 Ability Power, only 10 less than Morellos. 300 Health, the exact same as Morellos and 10% Cooldown Reduction which Morellos doesn't even give anymore.

Whereas Morellonomicon only gives 15 Magic Penetration and Grievous Wounds, which is less than Sorc boots, Protobelt has arguably the best active in the game.

Its active effect makes the motherload of stats that it gives, even better. When you use the Hextech active on Protobelt, you dash forward a short distance and release an arc of seven fireballs. Both the dash and the fireballs deal damage and the damage goes up by 10% for each fireball that hits a single target. If you do the math (or check the wiki) you'll know that you can get 255 + 42.5% of your AP in magic damage.

For the purposes of science, lets just say that you have a solid 700 AP and a Protobelt. 42.5% of 700 is 297.5 (298). 255 + 298 is 553. You can potentially get a solid 553 extra damage in a full combo just by having this item. And that number doesn't account for the other item effects, magic pen and other BS that you might be using in that game. Any bursty, AP melee champ can use this item with insane levels of efficiency and this brings me to my second problem.

Protobelt pretty much defines a certain group of champs, which are the Burst-oriented, AP melee dive champs. When was the last time you saw an Ekko with P.Belt finessed a game from under your nose because you couldn't outdamage him in the long run? Or how about the last time a Fizz suddenly did a solid 200 damage more than you were expecting? The list goes on and on, but the the style of champ remains the same. Ekko, Fizz, Evelynn, Galio, Sylas and even more. They all fit the mold and it might not even be a perfect fit, but protobelt makes it perfect.

This is a plea to riot, please just fix Protobelt and its various users, and if not just remove Protobelt.

pretty exaggerated premise here

you prolly should just title the thread something else because saying "1 item will kill the game" is ridiculous and makes you lose any credit before anyone even reads it. Honestly i clicked on the title just to see how stupid your view was.

Sure its cost is low but some champs need it for mobility while a 60ap support item for 400g lets a mage be a support for 10 minutes into an actual scaling mid laner who after buying it for 400g can instantly start building ap.

Best active in the game? Are you actually trolling?

And its stats aren't even that good.

You want to see an underpriced item? item 3116

Ngl it’s not very often used to my experience (granted I’m low elo) and the few people I ever see use it are when I play Bard or Morgana, it’s relatively cheap but all the hextech items are pretty gold efficient and the active is useful for positioning on supports. I don’t see how it could ruin this game because the stats aren’t THAT strong. I’d be more concerned about other items.

Protobelt is a solid rush item on many melee ap champs and a nice fast 1 item powerspike b/c it gives alot of the stats skirmishing ap champs want, hp cdr ap and a nice active for burst/help w/ waveclear.

But it is also a trade-off, yes item 3145 is a nice component item for most champs who would want to build item 3152, but item 3067 is not as nice and feels sort of bad to sit on with kindle in inventory. 2. Rushing protobelt you are trading to get early skirmishing power by giving up the early mana sustain of item 3802 of item 3010 , as well as slowing down your scaling.
