Rengar Status

So I think its safe to say that Rengar's rework wasn't really successful in what was intended. The goals of the rework were to make rengar seek out increasingly stronger targets to hunt instead of farming one weak player, make each empowered ability stand out and require decision making, and make his Thrill of the Hunt more interactive. Now he's a bruiser that mainly uses his R to zone and still do good damage while being alot tankier. There are quite a few things I think that led to this

His Q is a delayed skillshot with a clunky animation, and his W heals part of the damage recently done to him in a fight. Not only that, but his ferocity decays out of combat, which means you can't stack it before going in for the kill. These abilities make it so that Rengar wants to engage in extended trades so he can beat up the target while surviving longer and building up ferocity. As a result he builds tankier to survive long enough to get his damage off. As compensation, he got a massive amount of free AD from his new passive, which gave him more room to build bruiser. He had so much damage he could still delete squishies while being alot tankier than before, which became less of a problem after the slew of nerfs that followed. His R, Thrill of the Hunt is considerably worse than it was before. The range to which it notifies the enemy that rengar is coming, alot with the vision loss made it more of a zoning tool than a hunting one.

Now I do agree Rengar needed to be changed. I don't think it was fair for squishy champions to be blown up out of stealth and by the time they saw the exclamation mark they might as well open the shop and look through for their next item. I know Rengar was a very frustrating champ, once he got ahead he could uncontrollably snowball and one player essentially didn't get to play league. On the other side, if he fell behind he became a walking vision bot because he couldn't kill anything and had no other utility. The change of his ult from stealth to camouflage I think was a good idea.

I don't really know how to change or improve Rengar from his current state. I'd like it if the rework was reverted but if not I hope some follow up work can be done, like to his R and passive. I just hope this provokes a discussion from Riot on how to help him out.

What they need to do is fix his passives scaling; this could be done by reducing the amount of damage it gives at max stacks and upping the lower-mid stack bonus AD. They need to revert his Q back into an auto attack, and make it so W is like the old W, a heal. Apart from that it's fine.

I think They should ditch the stacking bonetooth necklace and Rework it from the ground up. The idea of constantly going for the strongest prey is actually something you said that sounds very interesting. If they made it so it worked like garen's villan where the strongest player on the enemy team is the one hunted that would be amazing. Now If they wanted to keep the stacking element they could make it so that you need to kill the Hunted target X amount of times for X reward.

It would fit him better thematically and Would make the game a bit more interesting.

Another day another handful of Rengar posts to be ignored by Riot. Man.. Wish they could just talk to us about him.
