How are you supposed to learn anything when you get raged at for not being perfect?

I try not to complain so actively, but returning to the game after 2 years or so of not playing anything but ARAMs every few months is making me want to tear my hair out. Prior to taking a break from the game I mostly played support, but with the new changes to ADC this season I wanted to give it a try. Coupled with not being familiar with the role and being out of practice, no, I'm not the greatest, but I want to learn. There is only so much bot games can teach you, so I want to play normal blind pick. Apparently this is unacceptable, though, because most of the games I've tried to play you'd think I murdered someone's cat with the vitriol being spewed at me from my teammates.

I've tried playing some normal games on a smurf, as well, but I'm pretty sure all the other smurfs are folks who got their main accounts banned for being assholes, because the rage is even worse in low level games. I'm not really sure how you're supposed to learn anything when people expect you to be playing at a Diamond level when you're level 9 or playing blind pick.

I know LoL isn't really renowned for it's fantastic community, but man, this is dreadful. Like, worse than I remember it. It's not like I'm YOLOing it up in ranked playing a role/character I don't know; at least I'd understand the anger there. Is the key just to find a group of people who aren't assholes to queue with? Because that seems like it would be difficult. zzz

To make it easier, simply mute anyone who starts to flame at you. The insults will only distract you, so remove the distraction!

2 choices:

  1. forget about those ragers or

  2. get used to those guys.

#1 is usually better, but both pretty much mean the same thing.

Pro tip at getting better: don't listen to people who yell at you.

tbh if your planning on picking up a new champ and role you should look up a ton of guides to get an understanding rather than going in clueless like a headless chicken.

I definitely do that, though.

Practice and disregard them then. Once in a while you come across a guy who mains said champion and has legitimate advice, so you should listen to them though.
