Censorship of the word Testicles

dontkillspwn··130 votes·21,791 views

I found it sexist that the word testicles is censored but not ovaries. Both of these organs are gonads and both have the purpose of creating gametes. The only difference is that one of them is in females. Can you please censor the word ovaries or stop the censorship of the word testicles so as to further promote equality in League of Legends.?

Feminism is nothing but a joke... Men and women are already equal but no, womens want more... I wonder why there is no such thing as Masculine power or something like that hmmm yea because we already accepted women as equal.

Feminists =/= feminazis, also this post just shows your ignorance on this matter.

Ayzev8 votes

The feminazis are so much louder than the actual feminists that you can't really blame anyone for mixing them up anymore. The reputation of feminism has been tarnished and the feminists haven't done anything/enough to either prevent or fix that, and it certainly isn't everyone else's responsibility to make sure feminism isn't associated with hating men.

Anin7772 votes

Does it tho? During first wave feminism, the vocal MAJORITY were clear where they stood on matters of equality. However, Second and Third Wave feminism threw all that away. The people who currently "represent" feminism apart from the obvious Emma Watson, are people like TrigglyPuff , Anita Sarkeesian and that chick who said ACs are sexist. So when the majority of the posts/videos you see are of feminazis who identify as "feminists", it becomes harder to tell the difference. Try watching some of Camille Paglia's videos.

In some places men and women are equal, in most they are not yet. Example. Switzerland's average monthly pay is almost 20% lower than a males across all professions.

Some countries STILL have yet to open the rights for voting for women.

And that's just 2 examples out of many

We really shouldn't be focusing on other countries with this matter.

Not everyone is from NA like us. They are allowed to discuss issues on the boards too.

Hethalean4 votes

Is there a study for this that you can link? Otherwise, it feels the same as '77 cents on the dollar' spouted in America then combined with 'equal pay for equal work'. Except no one mentions that 77 cents on the dollar is just a comparison of all full time working women vs men. It doesn't account for... hours worked. Hazardous jobs. different jobs. Etc. It disappears when you factor for that.

Eternal Torment1 votes

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gender_pay_gap#By_country

wasn't 20, the number i remembered was slightly mistaken, but still, 14.5% isn't that far from 20 and still a massive difference

Hethalean2 votes

Oh, so this is exactly the same 'wage gap' that exists in the US that is more of an earnings gap than a 'wage gap' after reading some of the sources on that wikipedia. Women make as much as men if they go for the same jobs (and recently more).

Especially seeing the US is marked at 18.8 which is entirely incorrect since women don't work the same jobs/hours/etc as men but they try to compare it as such. There is no 'wage gap' in the sense that if you compare same job, same degree, same hours worked, same experience, etc.

However, if you compare just average earnings of all women compared to all men, you get the wage gap. It doesn't take much to see why that is a bad comparison though.

If you look at it, women are starting to earn more than men. In the big cities, young women are making more than their young male peers.

There are places where women are having issues. That is for sure. However, you can't just broad stroke first world countries where half of what they say is propaganda mixed with misleading information.

EDIT: There are issues that women face, but saying they aren't equal to men... at this point seems disingenuous. Both men and women experience life differently and face different problems. There isn't anything women aren't afforded that men are. There are actually rights imo that women have that men don't these days.

Women still don't have equality here in the USA, especially in the work place. They're frequently paid less, they are frequently skipped over for promotion just to name a few.

Infernape4 votes

The "women get paid less than men" statistic literally compares all working women to all working men. And said statistics show that women on average do not choose high paying jobs or majors in college, nor do they choose dangerous jobs and on average work much less per year than men.

Not sure which "statistics" you refer to. But your statement directly contradicts my wife's experience as well some literature I've read over the years.

And the pay comparisons i refer to are broken down by position. Not all working males and all working females.

We could go into how men are 'oppressed' for being in the military draft, having a lower life expectancy, have higher successful suicide rates and the one's who have to risk their lives for others... Then how we are actually defined as masculine for life threatening stunts, being discriminated for being nurses, eating unhealthily, being a stay at home father, and much more but I don't think you would understand that. I doubt Riot would love to see it discussed either.

Eternal Torment1 votes

Military draft is for men obligatory, however, service to the country is not. In countries like the USA and Switzerland you are merely forced to visit standart recruiting, a career in the military afterwards is your own choice.

As for the higher suicide rating, that one is sadly accurate. Europe currently holds the record number with a man-woman ratio of 4:1 however this seems to be true in wealthy areas, in poorer regions this stat drops significantly, so far that in many 3rd world countries women have the higher successful suicide rate.

and the definition of masculine as you describe it, with dangerous ideas and an inflated sense of importance for the male ego is the main reason why there is such a thing as male-shaming to begin with. those "standarts" of the masculinity as you describe it are nothing more than social superstitions, mutated from past definitions that died out years, if not centuries ago, and stubbornly stuck around as a means to give reason for bullying. those very same stereotypical gender-judgements apply to women too.

don't assume someone doesn't understand your point of view simply because it isn't fact but opinion. some people have more insight in a matter than you think.

I always thought it was weird that people are uncomfortable with words like "testicles" or "vagina" in the first place, enough to censor them. They are the medical term for those parts, probably the most professional way to refer to them. Sure you could use them as insults, but people also use "Down Syndrome" as an insult, and its rather silly to censor the word "down". So what can you do? No point in censoring stuff like that.

I don't really think this should be in gameplay. If it ends up being removed try placing it in general discussion.

Just stop censorship altogether, not that swearing is good but because the censor doesn't do a thing. If I wanted to say "A**hole", I will find some way of bypassing the filter - @$$hole, a'ssh0le, or some variety of it. And just because those aren't filterable doesn't mean the receiver won't understand it, we are intelligent human beings capable of reading behind context.

Let them swear all they want, when it gets excessive, put the report in and let the ban system deal with it. But tbh, just some crass behaviour is far better than toxic deathwishers, it's some peoples' way of expressing endearment sometimes (like a guy calling his mate a "lil' c**t). This is the internet, where a filter is more of an inconvenience than an actual help.

Lol? saying ovaries is not the same as saying testicles. Ovaries are a female organ whereas testicles are considered genetalia. Saying ovaries is like saying stomach, liver, kidney, etc. There's no difference.

So I suggest you stop being sexist because it's pissing a lot of people off.

I'm curious, in what context are you trying to use the word testicles?

"Good testicular game" "Lee Sin ult'd my testicles"

How exactly are you implementing this in gameplay?

The only thing I can remotely think of outside of total randomness is "suck my testicles" which I'd flaming and will get you banned.

Furthermore, if the word is filtered, it's probably because your chat filter is on. You can turn it off in settings.

If you think that's not insulting, then you actually should go outside... Then get into the nearby bar, find the biggest guy in there and tell him to "suck your testicles". Hopefully he'll manage to explain to you if it's ok.

BakedLotion1 votes

How is that in any way relevant?

Nobody's randomly saying suck my dick without any sort of context or trigger in game.

If the guy didn't do anything to me why would I tell him to suck my dick?

Nobody is saying it isn't insulting. It's just not insulting enough to warrant a ban, or be called "flaming" It's a simple immature/joke reply

LMFAO. Maybe you should go outside more and expose yourself to more people so you won't find everything offensive.

What do you mean "how is that in any way relevant"? And why are you saying that "nobody says that for no reason"? All you said was that "it's not flaming", but it very clearly is. You're either trolling or you don't really understand the meaning of the words you're using.

If you're telling someone he's and idiot, then it's flaming. So now you're suggesting that if someone annoys you (so does something to 'trigger you') and then you say he's an idiot... it's suddenly not flaming anymore? Stop embarrassing yourself. Flaming, insulting -call it like you what. It's exactly what it is and your justification is pure nonsense and irrelevant to what you're trying to show here.

LMFAO. Maybe you should go outside more and expose yourself to more people so you won't find everything offensive.

And here, again, you make literally no sense. You just said you "wouldn't say that to someone for no reason", then you said "nobody said it's not offensive" and in the very same post you try to ridicule me by saying I find it offensive. lmao, get a grip.

BakedLotion1 votes

You say it's offensive to the point where you can get banned.

I'm saying its offensive but not enough to get banned

Flaming is associated with extremes. Suck my dick isn't an extreme.

I don't think you know what flaming means. Telling someone he's bad isn't flaming. Telling someone they should jump off a building because he's the worst player in league is flaming. Is it rude to tell someone they're bad? Yes. Is it bannable? No.

Not sure what you're trying to get at here. You're just making me repeat myself over and over because you don't seem to get my point.

Purejoyce1 votes

Where exactly did I say anything like that? How about you stop lying? If you have nothing to say, just stop answering or admit you're wrong instead of making up lies. Make sure to point me at the exact post/line I said that or stop making a fool out of yourself, because it's getting old really fast.

I'm saying its offensive but not enough to get banned

You said it's not flaming. But it very clearly is.

Flaming is associated with extremes. Suck my dick isn't an extreme.

No, it's not. It's simply insulting people online. And how do you decide what's an "extreme"? Seems like something pretty subjective.

I don't think you know what flaming means. Telling someone he's bad isn't flaming. Telling someone they should jump off a building because he's the worst player in league is flaming. Is it rude to tell someone they're bad? Yes. Is it bannable? No.

I never said something as light as "you're bad" is flaming, I don't know how you came up with this. As I said, go to the bar and tell someone he's "bad at league" and you'll get laughed at. Tell him to suck your dick and you have a possibility to get punched in the face or be treated as a crazy person. But hey "you wouldn't say that to someone for no reason!" -that doesn't change what it is. "but hey! I jokingly say to my friends 'suck my dick' and nobody takes it seriously?!" -that's right, it matter who you're saying it to, in this case you're saying it to complete stranges online (or a bar). The difference here is that you're sitting behind a monitor so you "can" keep insulting people for no good reason, while you wouldn't do the same in person. Wonder why.

Not sure what you're trying to get at here. You're just making me repeat myself over and over because you don't seem to get my point.

What I'm getting at here is that you -incorrectly- claimed that "suck my testicles/dick" isn't flaming. It is. You're wrong.

...and don't forget to point out where I said "it's offensive to the point where you can get banned".

BakedLotion1 votes

Ok I realize why you're confused.

You replied to a thread I started with some other guy and he didn't reply but you did so I assumed you were the other guy. No idea why it grouped you two together

And we have very different definitions of flaming. Flaming is subjective. Don't know why you're trying to make it objective. There's a difference between insulting and flaming. One is more hostile.

I gave those two statements as examples to give u my stance on what is flaming and what is not. When the fuck did I say you said it? I was telling you what I consider to be flaming.

You yourself said "No, it's not. It's simply insulting people online. And how do you decide what's an "extreme"? Seems like something pretty subjective." If it's simply insulting then why did you say "I never said something as light as "you're bad" is flaming," ??? Seems like you agree that it's subjective, since you're implying "you're bad" isn't flaming?

Anyway, I think this is done bye

Radiant Wukong1 votes

Rather you think it's flaming or not, it will get you banned because it is offensive. Just like calling your teammate "bad" can get you banned. Just like saying "ggez" can you get banned.

Nobody tells us we have societal conforming robot, they just let us know that effects/results/consequences/responses fit accordingly.

This is RIOT's game, RIOT will ban you. You're actually in a legally binding contract from that user agreement you signed to play this game. So please, tell RIOT to "suck my dick" and see if that works out for you.
