I've always played him top for the most part. It is hard to explain but basically:
Learn the match ups.
Respect the match ups.
Respect the match ups some more.
Be aggressive to punish.
--But playing safe till mid game is the goal.
Keep track of the enemy jungler.
Keep track of your jungler.
If your jungler is top side and willing, prep a gank.
Short burst is your best friend.
Roaming mid lane is your other best friend.
Teleport allows you to roam bot lane after a recall.
--getting mid/bot kills then tower/drag > losing top tower.
Take ignite if they don't have heavy wave clear.
--Also if you don't expect to be poked out of lane.
Wukong is heavily item reliant. So make sure your farming is good.
As Wukong you build to delete.
--But still get defensive items mid-late game (1 or 2)
As Wukong your job is to delete the squishies dealing the most dmg.
--So make sure you keep track of who is fed, and the items they have.
--If you all in the guy with Zhonyas, probably a mistake.
--If you all in the guy with 3 armor items, probably another mistake.
Focus grouping over splitting. Wukong is strongest grouping.
Try to not play too obvious mid-late game.
--If you play the same way they will expect you.
Get Sweeping Lens to clear enemy vision. Very important.
Buy control wards throughout the game. Also important.
--If they can't see you, you can clone in and delete them.
Try to make the most of your ultimate. 3 man knock up > 1.
That's all I can think of for now. As you can see, playing Wukong is a lot less of the lane phase dominance, and a lot more of what you can and should be doing mid game. Also what you are doing to set yourself up for a better mid game.
