shaco ult-wall jump

I went into practice tool, trying to figure out what makes this trick work.

When you ult as shaco, your character (real shaco) moves a significant distance from your original location (just press ult, don't right click to move, the movement gets buffered after your ult animation, which makes it look smooth if you pull it off). That's what makes you jump walls, not the right-click! What bothers me is that standing in the exact same spot, facing the same direction will not result in you moving to the same location. You always end up in a different position. I did have a better rate of succeeding with my shoulder to the wall, but not even close to 50%

Should this get fixed? If you ask me, these little tricks keep the game interesting...

(sorry for possibly bad english)

I really REALLY wish this was more consistent. The fact that, even if you position perfectly and SHOULD, in theory, make it over the wall, only to have RNG fuck you up is pretty annoying. I can attempt this maneuver 100 times in a row and I'll have no idea when it will actually work. Would it be asking too much if a Rioter could comment on this trick and specify if it's intended to be so random or not? Or if it's even intended in the first place? It wouldn't surprise me if this is just another bug with Shaco that no one cares about fixing.

I might be in error but I'm pretty sure they added randomness to his ult as a QoL change some patches ago to let him pull off mindgames easier (before everyone that managed to read a simple guide of Shaco knew that he spawned always on one side making mind games virtually impossible to pull off). This change basically traded reliable and safe objective steals for more combat power which is fair trade in my opinion.

Makes so much sense, didn't think of it that way...

Pretty sure that trick has been around since forever, but good job on finding it yourself^^

I know, but before practice tool, I just thought I didn't know how to do it. Now we have to opportunity to test these things (without wasting 50 minutes), to find out how it works. I was quite upset it didn't work, so I thought let's try to get some attention to this so Riot could explain their intentions.

It does work to dodge stuff though, which is its main use. If they made the direction of the dodge/hop consistent then enemies would also know where Shaco went too... There's also the risk of them thinking it's "added power" and nerfing him after making it more consistent. It'd probably be better for them to ignore it.

Before his changes, you could make a play like this, now it's RNG. It's another bad thing :^> Riot has done to Shaco -> random positioning of Clone and Shaco after R, what sometimes makes you to appear on Cait trap or smth else, or you just lose AA range on enemy, etc.

it's based on his clones spawn point. his clone always spawns 3 teemos away from him with the middle teemo being the place you're standing in when you activate the ability. if you're basically inside of a wall and your clone spawns on the side away from the wall due to how replacement placement works to prevent you from being inside of terrain you'll be placed on the other side of thin walls and get a bit more range allowing you to wall hop the same way as katarina.

the location where the clone spawns is based on your facing and your intended direction of movement. it always spawns beside you.
