Safe Midlane Picks to blindpick?

Pretty much the title. I'm comfortable with a good amount of champs mid lane, but I'm wondering if there's anything I can safely pick first without being hard countered(ex I pick Veigar first, and they respond with LB or something). I was thinking maybe Ekko? Or sell me what you think is safest.

Edit: thanks everyone, I think ill give Ahri and Anivia a try!

Ahri or Orianna

Ahri Safe and well rounded champion, she can assassinate, kite, poke, sustain, etc.

Heimerdinger Strong in virtually any lane except against Syndra since she can screw up your turrets.

Karma Strong early game, good sustain, burst, poke, moderate CC. She tends to fall off late game though.

Lulu Good lane bully, no real hard counters. Even if you fall behind she has enough utility to stay relevant.

Malzahar One of my personal favorites, high early game pressure, excellent scaling, good against assassins. Can have a bit of trouble against super long range champs, but not usually.

Zed Very few "Bad" matchups. He can easily farm at range, CS under tower, has great all in, can sustain easily, effectively resourceless, and because Zhonya's is so expensive he remains very strong for a large amount of the game.

Morgana Malzahar Chogath These are pretty safe for blind pick

I haven't played mid in years, but when I did Cho'Gath was fairly safe to pick first. He comes with the added benefit of being able to top, mid, and jungle, so if you are counter-picked and one of those other slots is still available, you can rotate out and let someone else on your team take mid. Further, since he can play three roles effectively, he's harder to purposefully counterpick because the other team won't know where you're going until near the end of team selection.

If you're in the need for a poker, I'd pick Velkoz. He can attack from a VERY long range and has lots of CC (Q slows, R slows, E knocks up and pushes back). I've played Vel so many times, and I often don't get countered.

I pick Kogmaw into anything mid and manage 59% winrate with him. I know the common matchups with him and am very familiar with his strengths/weaknesses so try to play around those.

Supposedly he is bad against assassins but I didn't lose a single game against Fizz nor Zed in all of Season 5 (~150 games total).

akali and fizz usually seem to rock it no matter what. but but fail against stuns and holds.

I don't play a lot of mid-lane, so I've tried to find some safe consistent picks to play in that role for when I fill it. I would recommend trying: Lux Orianna Viktor Ahri Anivia

They all provide good waveclear (sieging/counter-seiging), utility (so they will be useful even when behind), string teamfighting, good DPS (for objectives), and safe laning phases oriented on farming instead of fighting.

If you need an AD mid laner, Zed is probably the most reliable option even though there is a significant amount of counterplay, counter-picks, and counter-build options against him.

Karthus Ziggs Veigar are other decent choices, if more risky.
