I'm not excited at all. From what I read, it's basically the same thing Riot said about all the previous jungle changes. They feel like they want to introduce new playstyles in the jungle or, rather, they want different playstyles to be acceptable. From past experience, this means that they introduce a new way to play it and then nerf it into the ground. We saw this happen with the addition of Feral Flare and then before that, we saw it with the introduction of Elder Lizard changes.
There was a small window of time when the must-plays were Xin, Warwick and Yi: BOOM! Nerf. There was a small window of time when the must-plays were Pantheon, Wukong and Nocturne: BOOM! Nerf.
The only thing I read that sounded promising was the addition of "objectives" in the jungle. If it's a global gold thing or a buff for the team, that might introduce more strategy to jungling.
What scares me is that Fearless is working on it. So it'll be broken, everyone will hate it, then they'll take 6-10 months to balance it but it will still be less fun than it was before. Might as well get Scruffy and Stashu on the team to be the Trinity Force All-Star team of anti-fun and making the community rage. That and spreading misinformation such as false patch notes.
I'm both excited and terrified.
On one hand, as a jungle main, all the changes sound very interesting and I'm very curious as to how this could drastically change up how the game plays for me.
On the other hand, I main Shyvana jungle, and I have ever since her launch about a month after I first started playing. For her specifically, these changes are rather intimidating. The last change to make the jungle harder (nerfing machete) already did a number on her, making her initial clear far more painful and dangerous than I'd like. On top of that, as a fast-clearing/counter-jungling specialty jungler, her strength has always been that those two aspects go hand in hand. You clear fast so that, in the time it takes the opponent to gank a lane once, you've just taken at least half their jungle, and this is how she makes up for the fact that her ganks are so weak. But from the sounds of things, counter-jungling and clearing quickly are now expected to be different traits, and I'm left to wonder what kind of condition and how viable of a jungler this is going to leave her.
Not excited at all. Riot talked about a lot of those things last season and they just dropped a ton of it by the time s4 started, the fact is that the few months between seasons is not enough to do what they want, so a lot of changes get abandoned. 4 buffs, dragon, baron and towers already saturates the map in objectives, special effects for smiting camps just sounds dumb, smite having an effect on champions sounds like the most awful thing imagined (let's give lee sin an offensive summoner spell! what could go wrong?), and itemizing into the kind of jungler you want to be is exactly what they did last season with the different gold effects, and they just ended up changing everything to the 80 stack consume 40 for gold on big monster kill (except for wriggle's lantern being worthless for like half the season before feral flare) because that was the only one that really worked well
I am fairly certain it will be a collosal fuck up, riot doesnt seem to realize they way they have made kits, you are just never going to have a diverse pool or junglers with different play styles. If you make someoone struggle to clear they will gewt counter jungled and be useles, the people who clear fastest and safest also end up being the best gankers..... has nothing to do with items or jungle camps but thier kits.
I read more difficult jungle
I think
.
Inb4 permaban.
guys, we can
if the item that can smite players is actually made
Nothing will change. Sure give junglers that aren't viable better items to help them. Problem still glaring. What happens when one team has a Lee Sin, Elise, Kha, etc and the other has a Nautilus, Maokai, Skarner jungle?
The Lee Sin type go find and kill that inferior jungler and then counter jungle him. You can't start off with an item that will close that gap. At by the time that weaker jungler gets that item he is behind and all his lanes asking where his presence has been, meanwhile the strong damage junglers are snowballing.
The problem is for that last two seasons Damage is way better than Defense.
I don't see the need for jungle changes. As stated a champions kit defines how well a champ does in the jungle.. Riot admitted themselves that their are a lot more champs jungling now than before and yet they want to add more nonsense which IMO will create more junglers.. Seems to me they want tanks in the jungle really bad. Perhaps the real goal should be how can we make tanks more viable top again.
I don't understand how making the jungle harder is going open it up to more champions. Honestly that just makes no sense to me.
Wanna know directly from riot, will there be masteries changes in season 2015?
I'd like them to change the whole game to make jungling a viable strategy, but not a requirement to have on a team. I admit I've been gone for awhile but I haven't heard of anyone not having junglers still, it's a mandatory "slot" to fill now. Would like to have Jungle somehow be viable for a team to have a full time Jungler as a strat, but also have full laning with the Jungle there to just be a possible secondary income for breaks from laning.
I dunno...just feels stale to have Junglers needed all the time.
gonna have to learn the game all over again. really sweeping changes here, will probably change a lot of the meta picks and hopefully introduce some new viable ones.
I'm stoked. Personally, I find the jungle boring to play and this will give it a lot more strategy and a multitude of different options on playstyle if everything comes out ok. I'm ready =D
For junglers I hope the changes work out. But the only changes I want is harsher and faster punishments so instead of 75%+ games involving trolls maybe it goes down to 60 or 50%.
It sounds like I'll never wanna be bothered with jungling again LOL
That sounds like a change that will definitely go wrong. Increasing the power of jungle creeps does not increase the amount of viable jungles it decreases it. We've had that. Their goal is right, but it again feels like they didn't think their solution trough.
Well, we'll see.
One day they'll get the jungle right.
Until they they are going to do entire reworks for it every season.
I'm not. The jungle meta changes every fucking season and it changes the hardest. Do you have any idea how annoying that is? Every time they change something, you have to practice EVERYTHING in normals before you can take it into ranked. Just give me season 1/2 jungle back.
Jungling will literally stay the exact same, because, early game power is everything, and giving a lane the lead is why you gank, and no jungle change will change that. Making the jungle harder to kill and harder to sustain early will do nothing be cement the strong junglers and push out the frail and slower clears(slower clear = more damage=time taken/Fast clear = less damage+time taken) further out of the usable roster. There are no variable defense runes for the jungle(minus the special cases who scale with defensive stats), you have Armor yellows and MR per lvl blues. Am I to assume that there will be more than one starting item(a la S1/S2)? Cause if you're sticking with machete(the worst thing you've done to the jungle imo) then the dominant junglers will still dominate. They don't win because they gank, they win because they can clear safely AND gank with high success rate and rapidity. If you want tank junglers to compete(which, let's cut the bullshit, you never want that again, they don't make your ebin plays :-DDDD), you NEED to make defensive stats work offensively on jungle minions. And NO, the shitty quill coat thing isn't good enough. You also NEED to take away either extreme mobility, or high base damage and extreme dueling power from problem champions in the jungle. Because, THOSE FACTORS(not clear speed) are why they are picked. They do everything, and they do everything better than the niche picks. You guys also keep saying you don't like frequent early ganks. Let me ask you this: when does it ganking make the most impact? THE EARLY GAME!!!!! When everyone has little to no gold or levels!!!! Giving your team power advantage in lane is always the best way to do that. It's also ALWAYS the best way to secure objectives. Sure, do your best to make Nun-I MEAN counter junglers viable again, gankers will still kill your lanes. They will still contribute more than counter junglers. Even if counter junglers become strong, you WILL see players just grabbing buffs and becoming essentially a roaming ganker, because, like EVERY SEASON has shown you, and I have told you, early game lane ganks and team advantage will out any other way to win the game.
Maybe tank junglers will return! I joke of course, because Rito wants everything to be about UBER PLAYMAKERS
