How can I get better at playing with an unlocked camera?
I find that playing with a locked camera is starting to hinder my abilities, but playing unlocked feels awkward to me. How am I able to get better at it?

Baby steps. Try switching to the semi- unlocked camera and then make an easy to use key on your keyboard switch it back and forth between that and full unlocked whenever you press it. That's how I've been doing it anyways.
Hold space bar while you play, let it go to be able to move the camera
