Not much point.

Riot doesn't do hard resets though, just a soft one, that's because a hard reset would really mess with match quality for a good while... which means where you get to now has a bearing on what MMR you play placement matches at. Which means harder placements if you climb but a higher rating as well. But at the beginning of the season everyone will finish their placements and probably be rated below their true rating anyways (if they're gonna climb)...

It's like a big crunch I think. Anything you gain now will be crunched down but it'll have some impact...
