Matchmaking

Okay Riot. I've played this game for a long time. I've dealt with the crappy community, the toxicity, the salt and all of it. But what I can't get over is the ridiculousness that is matchmaking in normals. Some of us don't like to play ranked 24/7. We would rather have fun. So why is it that I, a Silver 2, and my friends, G5, S3, S5, are matched against Platinums, Diamonds, and once even a Master tier? How is that fair or even fun? Let me tell you, its not. At all. Its making me hate this game. How am I supposed to improve and have fun with friends if I'm constantly being destroyed by people with higher skills and more experience? So please Riot. Do something about this. Your matchmaking is screwed up and unfair. Its like having the local baseball team play a game against the varsity college team.

:) I doubt they are gonna do something about this. There have been many posts like this one (I wrote some as well - when I was the only lvl 30 on my team and we were placed against a diamond and 2 platinums - you can do the math and see how much of a chance we had at... not even winning. At actually playing). At least rankeds are made a bit fair when you can't face anyone who is way too far from your division. Why care, actually? We get flamed at during those normals when we aren't able to match a diamond main on our lane, we get frustrated, because we wanted to play_ for fun_ - but then, I think it's RITO's sense of humor to watch little children getting beat up by adults (which is an exact analogy, isn't it?). It IS fun for the diamonds who just get their ego boosted. Who cares that we don't enjoy the game? And if we DARE say something, the only thing we get is a chat ban, right? Because that's the easiest way out of solving problems - muting them.

The entire matchmaking system of lol is a joke. A game as intricate as this has only one variable that measures where you get placed - games won. It's hilarious that anyone would even try to pretend that was enough to accurately rank players.

Riot's perception appears to be that starting matches more quickly makes more people happy than waiting longer for more balanced opponents.
