What are Riots Ideas of an "S"

League of Legends Match History

So recently, I played a game.

It was Lulu mid, against a Lissandra. I had a relatively easy time in lane, got a few ganks, a few kills. From around 8:00 to 30:00, I was basically the monster on the Summoners Rift, running around, getting solo kills, taking objectives, and saving teammates. What I mean when I say this is that my final score was not a result of running around the map and ksing, and I got more than my fair share of assists as well. We won the last two teamfights off my ultimate and my polymorph, and I finished the game with the score 16/2/23. I had second highest damage on our team, placed the most wards, and stayed high up on the charts in terms of damage. I also had third highest gold in the game.

But I only got an A+.

In fact, both the Sejuani and the Alistar on our teams got S.

Now, this isn't me raging at Riot for not geting an S, but instead an investigation into a question I have had for a long time. What are the standards/requirements for an S? I always assumed it was lot's of kills/assists, very few deaths, and tons of damage. But despite meeting those requirements, I still didn't see that glorious S on the Post-Game screen. So what did I do wrong?

Your answer lies in stats. To get an S, you need to be about 3 deviations above the mean average for your specific champion in terms of KDA, farm (which you had 220 at 46 minutes), towers taken, damage dealt, etc.

i think it has to do with expectations of the champions perceived roll, though ive never had scores like that and not gotten an S, so it must be based off an average of other players perhaps?

I really don't get it.

Go 12/2/7 in a 20 minute game with Urgot, A

Go about 5/6/12 with Sion in a similar game, S

The ranking system is based off of other things than kills and such. Wards placed, minions killed, and such. Then this is all brought together and compared with what other people get with that champion in that role. S is, if I recall, around the top 10% or so.

What the fuck is this 42 minute game where NO ONE bought a single vision ward?

As someone asked earlier today, I'm sorry to say, but KDA will not get you an S rank.

You farm (220) is awful for a 47 minute game and despite placing a lot of trinket wards you did not buy any pink wards, which goes into the calculation for S rank.
