Blitzcrank as a One Ability Champion

Everybody finds Blitzcrank annoying. That's his purpose, I'm sure. He gets a knock-up, a silence, a movement speed buff, and all without mentioning his defining ability: the pull.

See, Blitzcrank is rarely banned (unless I'm first) because people think to themselves, "Hmm... he is never the champion that snowballed and kills everybody by going un-targetable and bursting my team (cough Fizz cough)."

So no, Blitzcrank is not a hypercarry.

But he CREATES hypercarries.

As I understand it, hypercarry champions are meant to have a weak early game, rewarding players that play well with a late game threat. However, give a hypercarry a Blitzcrank, and all they need to do is be ready for that rocket-grab to pull an enemy champion into his/her certain demise.

Blitzcrank requries no skill. There are no special plays to be made with Blitzcrank. Lee Sin has to pull off an "Insec" if he wants to displace the enemy team's high-priority targets. Blitzcrank makes sure he's in a straight line with his target, presses 'q' and can go to the bathroom. His job is finished; the kill is secured.

I get it; I really do. Every champion needs a unique signature style, and Rocket-Grab is intrinsic to Blitzcrank. However, there is a way to nerf it: terrain.

Don't let it pass through terrain. Stop it. A jungler could be peacefully slaying blue buff and then they're dragged to their doom because some troll pointed q and pressed it. So don't let it pass through terrain! Either let it only go through once, so that the target is pulled to the wall BUT NOT THROUGH IT, or not at all.

In conclusion, I will never agree with a Blitzcrank. The displacement is overpowered if not downright broken. However, not letting champions be pulled through terrain would be a step in the right direction, and it's an easy enough fix. Please Riot. In every Patch Notes, I read these beautifully written visions of strategic decision moments being the focus as opposed to "I landed one skill shot; you have been slain." It gives me hope. Until I'm up against another Blitzcrank.

Blitz isn't banned anymore because free wards became a thing. Wards=useless Blitz.

Yes, Blitzcrank has crazy displacement, but it comes at the cost if everything else in his kit being so-so at best. Compare a good Blitzcrank to a good Thresh or Leona and it just seems like he can't keep up.

I don't think Blitzcrank needs changed. I think he's in a decent spot and nerfing his pull would require compensation buffs other places in his kit.

Blitz has counterplay, use minions, mobility, and jukes to throw off your opponent. If you say you got caught out, it does happen, but awareness of him is counterplay.

Congratulations, you've just reiterated what everyone's already said about Blitzcrank over the last 4 years.

You! I didn't know you migrated to the boards. Are names just too small now to really pay attention to them actively?

Well everyone kinda had to migrate, the closed down the old forums.

And I dunno. I actually like the font size for the boards and whatnot. But the upvote/downvote system is utter garbage. A single spiteful douchebag can wipe someone from the hot page and into the realms of obscurity in an instant. That's bad design. Any design that functions based on the assumption that people are gonna give people a fair shake is designed by someone who's never interacted with people on the internet.

Maybe they were hoping unfavorable conversations would "work" themselves out? Edit: I mean, the forums were never moderated right? Not too sure on that. Community moderating? Alright yes, they have probably created a monster. Monsters?

Blitzcrank is "noob-cleaver" no offense, but if you know your game you can dodge that.

But yea, if you are not comfortable with role and/or champ you play you are easy pray.

Though in late game it is no more about your skill it is more about how much attention pay to the game. You loose your focus once and it can mean game lost. In that I agree. But banning him is like banning Morgana, both their skills are dull key pressing, giving too much advantage for too little skill. Still both skill can be dodged and played against in lane stage. Problem comes in mid and late game where there is too much to be careful about that one misstep can mean end of the game.

I understand his counterplay myself, and it works especially well if you ward river well and push to their tower. However, you will get the people that are scared of Blitz, and that is where he shines the most. Think of him as a "Pub stomper". If he knows at least one person is scared of him, it's his advantage. If you let them push to your tower and dodge all his hooks, you'll still lose lane and tower first. If you're scared he's run behind your minions if you're in the middle of the lane and pull you. Sivir and Alistar are really good counters for him bot lane. Actually anyone that can counter engage against a Blitz is really good. As a support, remember, cc their adc first, then peel the blitz, then escape. The most complicated situation in my opinion is Blitz' lane partner. Cait, Jinx and Draven and such really make his grab extra scary. Ultimately though, when you can see him, his grab is highly telegraphed. The nerf you mentioned is one idea, another would be reducing how long his ms buff lasts, or how much ms it gives. In a lot of cases, his ms buff really compliments his grab
