Gangplank Sheen Barrel Interaction

A while ago they changed sheen to not proc on hitting a ward. This sheen proc is saved for the duration.

Gangplank item 3057 Currently for Gangplank if he auto attacks a barrel with sheen proc and the barrel doesn't explode the sheen proc is still used. Wouldn't it make more sense to treat the barrel as a ward until it would blow up in the case of an auto attack? It makes his wave clearing and combos slightly awkward if you don't know about this interaction.

Thoughts? Bug? Intended?

It would be a great buff to the e auto e q combo. Which is the main poke combo in lane besides the 1-part.

I think it is intended to make the barrel minigame a bit more challenging
