Regarding a Possible Yasuo Nerf or Rework

Hi, I'm Disciple413, a player in NA. There's been talk amongst Youtubers, players, and allegedly Rioters of an upcoming Yasuo nerf or rework. Redmercy the Youtuber spoke of Rioter Ghostcrawler talking about a Yasuo rework. Others have said that a nerd will be incoming in either 7.1 or 7.2.

Before I make any comments about balance, I'd first like to say that it wasn't that long ago that I had entirely stopped playing League of Legends. It was the idea of playing Yasuo that made me come back to the game. His concept, design, and character fantasy often times make the game worth playing for me. He is my favorite champion and I wouldn't be playing League of Legends if it wasn't for him.

That being said, he is a very high skill cap champion. He requires a lot of time and practice in order to do well, and even seasoned Yasuo veterans can have a difficult time(I looked recently at ArKaDaTa's match history and he wasn't fed and destroying every game, his KDA was often very average). I do not believe there is much of a balance issue with Yasuo. He is a high risk, high reward champion like Lee Sin. CC counters him, and with smart play he can be beaten.

If it is tank Yasuo that is the issue(I've never really tried it myself), then please fix that specific issue. Tank Ekko was incredibly annoying for a long time so that could be understandable, and I think his balance changes since then have been great

My appeal: please do not destroy the fun of this champion. He's difficult to do well with, he isn't a face-roller. He should reward those who have invested the time to do well with him. He should be strong and able to hard carry, in the right hands that is.

Thank you for listening, and I appreciate the hard work you've put into such a fun game, Riot.

THIS EXACTLY. To be honest, I think Riot should ONLY consider Challenger SoloQ and professional play when making any balance changes. At this level of play, every champion is played to its maximum potential, which is the only case that should be considered when balacing a game. Casual/non-ranked and bronze players are RUINING League of Legends with their un-competitive, scrub mentalities. They don't seek to bring out the best in themselves. They want their own made-up rules. If this is such a problem for them, then they should find another game, or at least play the Rotating Game Modes, ARAM, and Twisted Treeline. 5v5 Summoner's Rift is a COMPETITIVE ESPORT first and foremost.

Yasuo isn't a problem, the problem lies with the scrub mentality of bronze players along with the casual players. AKA GIT GUD. No Yasuo rework please, he's probably the most fun champion to play in League.

He went 5W-5L in his placements, Even in his placements, He was against Top Challenger players.

Whatever they do with him, I just want his E & Q skills untouched, Especially E, Its the main reason his pretty fun.

The issue is that yasuo is fucking annoying to play against, and I say that as a Yasuo player who absolutely adores every inch of this sexy fucking beast. Let's see what are the problems here:

  1. Passive shield that's counter intuitive and only useful in lane. Lategame it's almost negligible - you build no resistances so it might as well not be there.
  2. Double crit passive: I'm actually 100% fine with that. He has a crit damage penalty and rushing crit makes him buy 0 AD until 15 minutes. For some reason people think it's perfectly OK if someone's hitting them for 100 damage per hit, but the moment they see someone critting them for 90 with every hit, they cry OP.
  3. His Q has a 25% crit damage reduction. His basic attacks have a 10% damage reduction. What does that mean? It means that Q ends up hitting for less than an auto attack late game.
  4. Having to use a cheese non-scaling ability (E) to trade in lane early on, while having a superfluous amount of mobility that you just abuse because why not. You can't do shit in lane anyway so might as well dash 15 times and use the 50 damage from E to trade. Sad and toxic.
  5. R is shit. Let's see why:
  6. Refreshes the useless cheesy non-scaling shield: check.
  7. Does less damage than a Q:_ check._
  8. Gives a useless buff that is meant to kill tanks, but you are forced to focus squishies first else you'll die so it's entirely useless: check.

You see, Yasuo is a good champion. He can carry and make amazing plays, obviously. But a lot of his power budget is wasted on very annoying abilities, so his strengths had to be nerfed in order to reduce the cancer a bit.

What I'd like to see in a rework:

  1. Better integration of his affinity with crit. Don't actually punish him for building it, but rather embrace it. Like Kata with her resets.
  2. Removal of the shield or better integration. It's absurd that a late-game champion has to rely on a flat HP shield to survive. Fiora and Riven (who are also Skirmishers, like Yasuo is) both have more elegant solutions for situational defense.
  3. A new tool for mobility. His E is cancer - he has mobility he doesn't need in lane, and in 1v1s he has literally one dash every 6 seconds. It's out of control, and it's even used for trading because of how abusive it is. It's simply bad design and feels bad for both Yasuo and his enemy.
  4. A more powerful and satisfying ult. Even landing a normal autoattack at the end of it would do more damage, and the buff it gives is useless unless you're fighting a tank alone. It's unacceptable that you land a godly tornado (or your malph does a nice ult), you do the ryuugawagatekiwokuraw and it does 400 damage. It should be a finisher ulti, since it's designed as one.
