Riot sickeningly refuses to ban scripters in the last 4 years. The effect on gameplay and balance?

You may have noticed lately someone has spilled the beans and the general public has been flooded with scripts which allow players to 1 shot all players by stacking. The recent flood is ruining games left and right and the question is what will Riot games do about it?

Balance and gameplay hardly matters in an environment where several players load evasion scripts and achieve challenger - not only is cheating commonplace in high-elo matches - Riot Games refuses to pursue those who script to achieve victory and even professionals have zero chance of identifying most scripts without having personally used them.

The recent influx of scripting and its popularity has made one particular type of cheating very popular; activator. Unlike other scripts which grant mechanics better than a natural pro could ever hope for - the most recent influx of scripts is down-right unfair. You cannot win a match against activator. The most common scripts employed (which are never punished) include evadee - which makes use of your processors 36 trillion operations per second by intercepting packets sent which indicate a skillshot or ability is being casted - Before the animation ever starts - beyond your control your character is running or tumbling away out of the skillshots path.

Tens of thousands of league players have made use of such scripts for normal play, or to obtain high elo and start businesses in relation to gaining elo. Orbwalking is just a part of the game for those in the know - for those unaware - well if you have never used an evasion script - You have just about no chance of identifying script usage when its being streamed in front of you.

Despite Riots past accepting stance of script usage - It is likely Riot will soon make a move to patch the recent script causing all the havok. This particular script - you will identify faster than 23 180 headshots in 7 seconds - As the script allows the one-shotting of all players which could not be conventionally killed in a fraction of a second with any build. The question is - When Riot does take action, will it be enough?

Scripts cannot and will not be identified by players who don't have experience using those exact scripts - cheating themselves; it has never been that big an issue. The game is meant for fun and many of those guarded challenger spots are not for fun - but for business - for making a career out of games which does not affect the general populace.

The question is, would the community prefer Riot Games pour resources in areas they have refused to in the past such as rooting out cheaters of all walks - instead of refusing tackling any issue which does not directly affect their pocketbook (Referal Bots which level up accounts and refer "friends" for you). Of tens of thousands of users making use of scripts - The vast majority as with any software - Will not and cannot knowingly spoof data to hide their cheating. IP's, Hardware IDs, and other identifying nformation will always be a mystery to them - others do not care to take the extra steps.

Cheating has come a long way from the earliest introductions of sorakabot - But it has not become a problem which is visible to the general public until now. Will Riot continue forward condoning the usage of most scripts - and all evasion scripts , as they have in the past by turning a blind eye? Or will they take a stand. It is thought they would rather ban children calling each other idiots - and at the end of the day RIOT cannot and will not ever ban your main accounts as the community is oh so aware - so feel free to become part of the solution. Test scripts, than make riot aware of when you identify others using scripts so that their smurfs will need to be remade.

False. Riot is already taking measures against scriptors

False; orbwalking has not been targeted - the only script that will be targeted is bork - aside from that only referral scripts. Try a few scripts out and come back with your results (hint: you wont be banned) The grass is greener on the other side, Come out of the dark.

I'll let you think that.

I'll let you think that.

You wont find anyone who finds value in your lies here. Perpetrating some self serving falsehood to try and convey the ridiculous idea you have a clue about what you are spewing certainly must be a sin. You are awarded no points. You do not obtain relevance or ground simply by reiterating a false opinion relying on the fact it is a more popular; more desirable outcome and predicating on the fact players would be swayed or moved by your falsehoods based on the notion of "hope". What you are doing is not genuine and does not do the issue justice. This attitude perpetuates the atmosphere we currently experience - If you really are blind to the issue do yourself some good and make yourself aware of the scripts out there - so that you can witness the outcome first hand and perhaps have something more meaningful than an end note of - " ignore this issue, it is being addressed appropriately" It is not, has not for years and without community participation - will not.

You're trying way too hard.

You won't find anyone who values your opinion anywhere. You can think what you want.

How do I get my tinfoil hat?

And seriously, can you people learn the difference between Bots, Hacks and Scripts? It's annoying.

Automated leveling accounts aren't scripts, they're bots. The BotRK exploit isn't a script, it's a hack. Partial automation (i.e.: dodging and Cass/Kat) is script based.

Unfortunately it is unclear if you know what you are talking about. Everything listed is a script - Sorakabot is the name of a script - I have the script on my computer. I've used the script. One could also write a program which could be fed scripts and call the program soraka bot if they wanted to. I have also correspondence between me and Riot Games dating back 3 years in relation to the continued development of the scripts these bots use. Of little note the only thing that I could infer came from this was more advanced ai implementation on riots part - more advanced player versus co-op games. Unfortunately Riot benefits from the creation and advancing of scripts.

You can bring a collection of scripts together to function as a higher quality bot - but these are all scripts running through a program such as bot of legends. Don't be fooled by the terminology and various descriptions - there is the program - and all those functions are scripts being ran through it. Auto leveling accounts can be considered a bot if you would like but in reality its several scripts either separate or combined and ran through a program. For instance Soraka Bot + Auto logging/relogging script + Game creation/character selection script. All together it looks like a separate entity perhaps - it is not- its various scripts. I do not intend to post pictures of files to better illustrate what I am talking about - but I have faith the text alone will clear things up. It'd also be more helpful to the understanding to distribute the program and scripts so the visual aspect is there but that is also something I cannot in good faith do. Not to mention distributing so openly would likely end in termination, speaking of it is questionable enough.

What champion you would like to run will decide which script is best to use - for instance a garren specific script. These scripts are typically used in conjunction with a program which will interpret them. The most popular programs will allow you to use multiple scripts - i.e. use your soraka bot script - with your evadee script - with your other behavior altering scripts - and your maphack variant.

botrk is 100% a script - 100% - you can use it in combination with other scripts if you wish. Its a file like any other with instructions that another program will interpret. BOL is a good example of a program which has much functionality in the base product but will use things such as the soraka bot script or a collection of scripts such as akali funhouse to offer a unique cheating experience to its users.

Edit: Replace instances of evadee with evasion script as to not further confuse the issue as evadee is a separate package unique to its title as opposed to a single script. It draws from several different scripts to offer various functionality.

Edit 2: You or I could use these terms interchangeably at points. That is the magic of language. To infer someone is incorrect is of little significance because the nuances you point out in the terminology are more preference based than having any actual bearing on what is being said. How the general populace will interpret the data presented is of more importance. But remember, its all scripts a program will read, or be packed/included in said program in any case where a standalone is distributed.

Nearly every single piece of software is a (compiled version of a) script.

We define things by their function, what they do, not what they are made out of.

You play LoL? Your computer runs the LoL scripts. You use scripts? You should be banned then according to yourself.

Every remotely competitive multiplayer game I have played on the PC has had issues from client-side scripting. It is literally impossible to get rid of completely on an open platform like a PC.

The current issue with people being one-shotted is what I would call an "exploit" or "hack". They're messing with the game client and/or server to do something that should be impossible (most likely bypassing intended cooldowns on something). Riot is very good about finding and patching exploits like that, and this one is obvious enough that they are saying they will ban anyone who was using it.

Things like aim bots or other assistive programs are very hard to block or even detect as long as they don't "cheat" with regard to player input. It just looks like someone with incredible skillshot accuracy or very quick reaction times. The same with leveling/IP grinding bots. Riot does what they can, but this will always be a game of cat and mouse.
