Fiora Counterplay

Hi all, this is my first time posting, but I wanted to draw attention to something I believe would make laning against Fiora in her current state a much better experience without changing her numbers.

Instead of exposing vitals in an arc around the champion, attach those vitals to the champion. For example, if it's Fiora vs Riven and Fioras passive exposes the vitals of Riven, the vitals could be on Rivens back, front, left side or right side. If fiora uses Lunge to trade and go for Vitals, Riven could turn her vitals away from Fiora, thus winning the trade. Think of it like dodging a Cassiopeia Ult. I think this really fits with the identity of Fiora. Fighting against her should feel like a duel, a skill matchup. Giving a player control of the direction of their vitals adds another layer to the fight and gives some counterplay to it. I feel this would make losing to a Fiora feel more like being out-dueled rather than being traded with by something with zero counterplay. Just a thought.

Thanks :)

That leads to the problem that against bad players Fiora can easily land vitals and against good players she no longer has a passive due to people realizing they can just instantly turn and negate it. That just makes her more of a pubstomper, which is not good.

I dont think its true that she wont be able to land it against good players. You can still land Cass ults against good players.

Cass' ult has range and therefore you have to predict when she's going to activate it before she activates it.

Fiora's is telegraphed by her moving into range. Because characters turn instantly, you can just move your vital every time she moves toward you much faster than she can close the distance. Movement gated only by latency and input lag vs movement gated by latency, input lag, and finite movement speed.

No...Riot didn't do that on purpose.

I understand they chose for this not to be the case. Just hoping to find out why and raise some questions.

If they did that, they would DRASTICALLY increase the damage, heal, movement speed it gives.

I don't think laning against her is so much the problem as the insane scaling on her passive damage. It just gets way too much benefit from AD, so even if you fail in the laning phase, she hits insanely hard later on.

Yeah this is true. She does recover from losing lane way too easily. I do think she is very strong in lane though and can really be difficult to play against when she can Q your vitals for free and there isn't a way to stop it.

Riot needs to look at her mana costs on her lunge and bladework and maybe increase the cooldown of bladework.

Or they could just nerf lunge, which is currently completely free damage.

Yeah, you're right. It is pretty free damage. Was just thinking that making it harder to pull off gives her risk/reward.

Lol how is it free? It's a skill shot with a short range that goes on a long cd if you miss, seems pretty balanced, and for for counting as an aa like other abilities such as irelias q it doesn't even scale 100% ad, only with her bonus ad
