Possible Workaround for Deathfire Touch
Deathfire Touch has given DoT mages a huge boost of damage at all points of a match. I propose a system that may push Deathfire Touch to be a late game scaling mastery in order to contrast to the more early game oriented mastery, Thunderlord's Decree. These changes shouldn't drastically effect champions that don't have DoT abilities but may need to be tweaked in order to account for them.
Deathfire Touch should be put on a charge system similar to that of the blue support item family
,
,
, and
. Obviously, since you can't buy upgrades for a mastery, the number of charges and the cooldown for each charge should be determined by champion level.
Ideally, the charge system should look something like this:
- 1-18 (1 x <champion level>) OR 2-36 (2 x <champion level>) charges, additional charges given as champion level is increased
- 20 - 3 sec (21 - <champion level>) ( give or take) cooldown per charge, charges are refreshed one at a time
- A proc from any spell effect will consume one charge and will consume additional charges with DoT effects
- Damage profile unchanged
This system may easily be countered by simply clumping up, however. Alternatively, the system can simply place a cooldown and a cap on the number of times Deathfire Touch can be applied to each individual enemy champion. For example, at level 7, if I proc Deathfire touch on
7 times, I can still proc Deathfire Touch on
7 times. If Deathfire Touch is to be proccedon
again, I must wait 14 seconds to apply another single proc.
As such:
- 1-18 (1 x <champion level>) (give or take) procs on a single champion, additional available procs when champion level is increased
- 20 - 3 sec (21 - <champion level>) ( give or take) cooldown per proc on a single champion, available procs on a single champion are refreshed one at a time
- A proc from any spell with apply the effects of Deathfire Touch once, DoT effects will apply Deathfire Touch additional times until the cap is reached
- Damage profile unchanged
I'm unsure if this is too complex, would not solve the issue, and/or make Deathfire Touch too weak. Any comments or criticism is much appreciated.
