People who Refuse to support

Mr Trash Panda ·6/30/2015, 10:01:58 AM·7 votes·1,889 views

Everyone has been in a game lobby where the first person the last pick player says is "Not support"

When it comes right down to it that person will pick a duplicate role that has already been filled in spite of the team.

What are we supposed to do about those people?

Personally I am bad as a support, like painfully bad, one time as blitz I pulled the enemy wukong with ulti to our team that was a hit away from dying... yeah I gave the enemy a penta...

So I am one of those people that will not go support no matter what, I do more harm then good for the team, so sorry but I will never be support even if last

And would you be mad if someone said "anything but mid"?

No because there is always someone who wants to go there, so you dont get mad, but you do when someone doesnt want to go support? dude if you can support then you go, I am fully aware of how bad I am as support so I will not damage the team like that

They are telling you their worst role is probably support. It is no different than me when I say anything but ADC. I'm giving my team a heads up to not give me it because I will most likely hold them back. It is another thing to troll pick even though I was forced ADC, but there is nothing wrong with saying it.

How about when they say they can't play a role, you don't give it to them?

Tell them to go bot and just share the CS and kills. The "meta" isn't enforceable so you might as well try to salvage the situation. You can still sometimes use them to win the game, and just report them for negative attitude afterwards.

and by the way to OP there isnt anything you can do, they can do w/e they want and that includes going to a lane you called and taking your stuff, not helping, trolling, raging/flaming, afking

the only thing you can do is report them at the end but honestly that doesnt do anything either (wish i had the link that was going around forums of this twitch who had his whole history being 0/25+ for weeks until he finally got banned but that was only because he was being talked about on the forums....and its because someone carried him when he was 0/36 and he actually got one win)

its sad but it comes down to w/e MM wants to throw at you, if you wanna see real rigging go on na.op.gg and search your matches as your loading

youll see one team has all positive history while one team has a neg histories...to make matters worse the ones with positive histories are usually higher ranks also

this is by no means speculation, all of this can be searched for yourself

5 roles, if the guy doesn't want to support someone else can support.

Jamaree6/30/2015, 10:19:42 AM2 votes

At lower elo, I see why, at high elo, no idea why. I do minimum work for maximum value and get free elo. Oh no, I don't get damage, who cares?

Mr Trash Panda 6/30/2015, 4:47:03 PM2 votes

Its one thing to say "i cant play support" or something along the lines of "ill do more harm than good if im support"

its a completely different thing to troll pick because you wanted to be a hero of the game and get all the kills all because you didn't want to support.

i am no hypocrite when i talk about this because im the first one to go support when someone says anything about not supporting. why? because its easier to help the team out than risk a troll ruining 20+ minutes of my game time. The only thing i can do is report them unskilled at the end of the game.

Statistic of the day: 100% of people who experience games without a support on their team did not play support themselves.

Riot won't enforce a meta, so if nobody else wants to play a 0-CS support and they are insistent on not doing it, then either:

  1. You can volunteer to play support or
  2. You can dodge the match or
  3. You can try to work out some sort of compromise (like running a double bruiser bot or duo mid or something) or
  4. You can call their bluff, then report them if they do troll/feed

On the flip side of this, if you absolutely refuse to play certain roles then you should probably stick to Team Builder or a premade team. Or you should dodge every match where you get forced into that role so that you're not screwing over other players.

The best thing to do is talk it out. Riot said they prefer Pick order over call order for various reasons. Mostly pertaining to how long it takes to connect. But if you really talk it out with your teammates and figure out optimal lane assignments, that would be better than either call or pick order.

Keep in mind that people actually want to win. People don't want to support because they can't solo Carry the game from said position. And that's why no one wants to play support.

I'll play support. Mostly because I care more about having fun rather than winning. And if I want to Carry as a support. I just pick Either Karma or Morgana, and take over lane if the ADC fcks up.

Elo/mmr shouldn't really be an excuse for a person not to learn every role to a certain extent. At one point or another, I think ranked bronze players don't simply because they are unaware that they have to. No one really explains to them the necessity or utility, and they just never find out.

The funny thing is, I commonly Use Teambuilder to practice a variety of roles. But I chose roles base on how likely I am to get into a game. So I have a lot of Practice with Support, ADC, and Jungle. And Ironicly those are the roles I chose to master first in that exact order. I started support because Sona was my first champ that I really liked. I went ADC afterward because I already knew a good deal of bot lane mechanics. I picked up Jungle this season after the item changes scared people away from that role, and I filled a vacuum.

I never troll nor intentionally feed. But if I'm forced to play solo lane, All warranties are off.

I don't have a problem with this in normals, but if you're playing in ranked, I feel that you should be capable of playing any of the roles at least competently.

For example. My worst role is ADC. Knowing this, i tried out different adcs until i found a few that i wasn't COMPLETELY terrible with, and practiced until i was at least beating bots regularly.

I have 3 i can use fairly well (Caitlyn, Graves, Vayne) so that, if I'm stuck with the role, I can at least not disadvantage my team.

If you don't want to / can't play all of the roles in a game, played normals or team builder, not ranked. Sometimes in draft pick, you get stuck with your worst role. Saying" I'm bad at it, so someone else should take it.", completely ignorez the possibility that someone else is on your team, also equally bad at that role

Happened in a recent ranked... Last pick said "I'm not a good support so feed". Being first pick and picking a tank with very good peel, I decided to take support role and let them top. They picked quinn, the enemy picked Gnar, and we all surprisingly won the game. As a support, your job is to either peel for your team or keep your team alive. Almost any champion can support if you know what you're doing.

*Never underestimate Chogath support.

People who dont like support have not played Bard

Big Hans6/30/2015, 12:03:53 PM1 votes

People who claim that they "cant support" usualy make one huge mistake. They assume that they have to pick a support centered champ to support.

Any ranged mage in the game can be a good support. An agressive AD champ can be really good too. Dont take Janna, Bliz or Thresh just because you are suporting. Those are quite challenging support champs. Just take something you are good with.

Lynxonyx6/30/2015, 11:54:38 AM1 votes

I don't mind support, but I am simply terrible at it. I'll do it, but I let the team know they really don't want me to.
