Yes. "all subsequent magic damage from that same spell or effect."

Yes. It works against DoT spells, burn auras, and even OnHit effects. If you're up against any form of sustained magic damage then it is the item for you.
No. Only abilities like Cassiopeia's E or Karthus's Q, etc.
But only magic damage, so it doesn't work against Riven's Q and Passive?
