Tanks aren't even Tanks!

PrimeViper··4 votes·902 views

Hello there, my name is PrimeViper and I realists ever since I've started playing this game. Most tanks in this game aren't even tanks, they're busiers! For example, Rammus, you can build straight tank on him and he'll still deal massive damage, same with Mundo, Renekton, Shen, Nasus, Vi and many more. They simply too much damage and are difficult to kill even in team fights. I'm not saying to nuke their damage, but to make them actual tanks. Tanks are suppose to absorb damage for the team so the team could beat the shit out of enemy. Tanks are not suppose to be the ones absorbing all the damage whilst beating the shit out of everyone. If someone reply on this and share your thoughts it'll be very appreciated!

Except for Shen and Rammus, those are all fighters.

Yeah, thats because the game design regarding "tanks" is pretty fucked up lol. For some reason they are allowed to have 3k hp and 400 armor while still being a high damage threat.

They aren't a "high damage threat" except to people who built zero defenses. At best, there are a few champions that get offensive scaling from defensive stats (Rammus armor->ad conversion, Mundo hp damage etc) that can be called medium damage threats.

Penns1 votes

Yeah, thats my problem. People always say "why do you build "zero defenses" and expect to survive?" Yeah? Well, why can tanks/ bruisers build 0 offense and expect to oneshot you?

Tahm is a high damage threat, Mundo is an extremely high damage threat, Malphite will most likely oneshot your carries if they dont build banshees third item. A decently fed Rammus brings me down to half hp. And with what? With nothing, I just auto attacked him 3 or 4 times lol. Amumu Darius Garen Illaoi Maokai Nautilus Renekton Sejuani Shen Skarner Volibear Zac Trundle are all medium - really high damage threats while building 0- max 2 half damage half tank items, and the list is far from over.

Im ok with some of them because they pay with having no mobility or utility, but some of them are just stupid.

You realize that most of the champions you listed are fighters, not tanks, right? Heck, about half of them are Juggernauts.

The only real tanks you listed were Amumu, Maokai, Nautilus, Sejuani, Shen, and Zac.

Yeah? Well, why can tanks/ bruisers build 0 offense and expect to oneshot you?

Because you have no defenses. Everything will kill you if you are made of paper.

If you get Randuin's Omen or Banshee's Veil or Guardian's Angel after 3 offensive items, you will see a drastic increase in your survivability.

I already wrote bruisers... Call them what you want, if they build tank items most of the time, I call them tanks lol. Again, why do I have to build defensive items as carry that obviously doesnt want them just to not get instantly killed by tanks (and bruisers and juggernauts and fighters) while they can just build item 3068 item 3742 item 3075 item 3071 item 3748 item 3025 or item 3053 and be such a threat to me?

To survive.

You deal more damage alive than dead, so staying alive for an extended period of time is optimal.

If you can't trust your team to protect you and cannot kite the people killing you, then that can involve purchasing a defensive item (in addition to Bloodthirster) to survive.

Penns1 votes

Yeah, to survive. But why do I have to BUILD in order to survive while tankY champions can just build tank or hybrid items and not worry about doing not enough damage? Doesnt seem fair to me.

The same reason tanks have to build defensive items in order to mitigate damage. In contrast to ADCs, tanks are much harder to itemize, especially the ones without steroids or bonus armor/mr scaling.

You don't really have to think about what to build on ADCs until after you get your core items. Tanks also have core items, but the order that they build them in is entirely situational (i.e. based on the champion, team comp, who's snowballing, who's fed, etc).

It's not even hard to counter-build against a tank since most of them deal magic damage and don't invest in penetration. If they do invest in penetration than most of them will be easy kills come late game when damage far outscales defense.

What tanks are you having trouble with? I'm a tank main and I can give you advice to counter all of them.

https://i.gyazo.com/1a909a0a7973c1ab3fd3696bfe2f3306.png Its undenyable that tanky champs like that pretty much just roll over everything atm, even if you can ""counter"" them lol

Ratbert1 votes

Yeah tanks are 7th place after 3 fighters a mage and a ranged carry. sick.

Penns1 votes

"Tanky champs" You might not have noticed yet, but Trundle, Voli and Mundo are indeed tanky lmao.

Ratbert1 votes

If only I said tanky, you might have had a point. Oh well.

Penns1 votes

If only I didnt say "tanky champs roll ever everything" you might have had a point lol

Ratbert1 votes

Not in your first two posts.

And besides, since anyone can build tanky and thus become tanky, you've never had a valid point.

Penns1 votes

I mean, I had a trolling enemy Master Yi a few days ago that randomly sold everything and built item 3190 item 3065 item 3102 item 3026... And he was surprisingly hard to deal with just because HP is a toxic stat (and we werent even close to being full AP, he just wrote something like "I get all the MR items trolol report me" kek)

Still, you know exactly with I mean with "tanky champ" so pls dont argue like that lol

Ratbert1 votes

Except I don't, because since you aren't talking about tanks but "tanky champs", you can mean literally anyone who can build items.

Unless you ARE talking about **tanks **(not fighters/bruisers/juggernauts/duellists), in which case they're 7th place at best just by winrates.

Penns1 votes

Those champs are either naturally tanky or get a lot from building tanky because of their kit. Being a "tanky champ" doesnt equal "building tank items"...

Big Lincoln8 votes

the majority of these champs can't one-shot you. they need time to whittle you down and rely heavily on their base damage if they aren't itemizing pen

the main exceptions are probably garen and renekton, who aren't tanks

Penns1 votes

They are tanky. Is that better? Ahri and Annie arent assassins either, but people say so because they play like assassins most of the time.

And I never said THOSE champs oneshot you, Im just saying they are a high damage threat, which they are.

I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand.

Rammus is only a true threat if you don't build defense against him and if you have no AP on your team. Having your ap caster and what not target him to blow him out of existence is the best way to combat him.

Lovelle2 votes

The only tank on that list is Malphite though and he's specifically designed to counter ADCs and auto-attacked based champions in general.

Trundle Post 6 do not 1v1 him ever, especially if you're an AD melee champion. Always bring a mobile AP champion against him, they are his kryptonite. Build grievous wounds (cannot stress this one enough). Late game, Fiora and Tryn can out-duel him, but he'll win trades against just about any other melee when played optimally. One of the few bruisers that can remain useful to his team with little to no gold.

Volibear Highly reliant on snowballing, but is very easy to snowball with due to his cheesy nature and strong early-mid game dueling. He has to literally run up to you in order to do damage, so stay out of his range. If he doesn't get a lead, he falls off significantly. Build grievous wounds and do not get baited by his passive.

Malphite If you're an ADC or a remotely squishy champion in general just stay away from him entirely. He's really strong right now. Falls easily to AP burst though, especially if he goes anything less than full tank.

DrMundo Ban him. Otherwise, get grievous wounds and dodge the cleavers. He's really strong right now. Both the keystones and the penetration changes favor him greatly (same with Trundle, but to a slighly lesser degree).

Argue like what? You're arguments are so fluid and all over the place you might as well be an incontinent badger on crack shotgunning diet coke.

Tanks and tanky champs aren't going to one shot you unless they actually built some damage, have a significant lead, and/or you built pure glass canon. Even then, they're going to chunk you, not one shot you.

More to the point, if you ARE getting slaughtered by tanks and bruisers, you're doing it wrong. You're team is either not peeling/locking them down, you're way out of position, or you're getting caught out in the open and don't know how or can't kite.

Carries are not gods. Carry does not mean "ez kills". You're a cream puff with a rocket launcher. You have to play smart.

Supports aren't supports either anymore. Why go for utility when you can just build item 3089 on Brand Sona Annie

IcyPepper2 votes

Poor Sona.

Out of the three you listed, she's an actual (primary) support, but thanks to reliance on scalings she builds like a mage... and still functions as a poke support.
