Is Riot willing to admit it if they were wrong with Morde?

I'm not saying that they actually are. I don't play enough League to pretend to be an expert on this rework. It seems miserable on the surface, but I'm sure it will provide fantastic and memorable moments for a variety of reasons.

But, if in fact this really is an absolute trainwreck of a rework, how willing would Riot be to admit it? Would they insist that duo lane carry Morde was the right direction and force-feed it to us with a series of fixes or would they be elevated enough to revert an entire rework?

I haven't seen anything with this kind of scope of potential innovation, so I just don't know how that scenario would play out.

Being right or wrong is subjective. Popularity doesn't mean its right.

After lots of reworks, nerfs and buffs, they never admitted they made mistakes with Skarner. I doubt they'll swallow their pride this time either.
