New Addition for League of Legends Idea!
Hello, and welcome to my very first forum post! I have brainstormed this idea with a friend, and I think, even if Riot does not use it, which I doubt they will, somebody could at least find the idea interesting. Now then, onto the idea. I was thinking, or rather, we were thinking, that it would be an interesting function if League of Legends had a handicapping system. I.E., an additional yet optional bar like the runes or masteries, that would be placed just above, below, or near the runes and masteries bars in champion select, that could only be accessible after you've locked in your champion, as well as it being another page in your profile. What this would look like in your profile a drop-down menu, with main categories, followed by subcategories. These could include, but are not limited to, reduction of Damage, Reduction of movement speed, Cooldowns increased, mana/energy costs increase, reduction in mana/energy regeneration, etc. Under damage, there could be options to handicap specific sources of damage, as well as how severely. Each handicap will give an independent bonus to your rewarded influence points. Depending on how severe the handicap is, the rewards would be greater. A maximum of two handicaps would be allowed during one match, one severe handicap, and another minor/medium handicap.
The purpose of these handicaps would be to add a new, fun challenge for the summoners to attempt to conquer. Of course, these conquers would come with rewards(apart from the gratification of defeating enemies at a handicap). The primary reward would be additional ip gain at the end of the match. This could come in handy when grinding for that new champion release that you just have to have. Possible issues that could arise would be exploitation of the system using a group of friends to help you. A good countermeasure to this, is a steady decrease in percentage gains of Influence Points. If you and a buddy queue up, and you, he, or both of you, have a or many handicaps on, the handicap owner will receive 20% reduced influence points for completing the match. Add another friend to the queue, and that reduction jumps to 40%. Another friend, make that 60%, and with a full team, you receive a whopping 20% of the original Influence Points you'd usually receiving queuing alone. An additional 5% reduction of ip for taking smite as a summoner spell, as then summoners could take the mana regeneration handicap, then smite blue all game long. Handicaps would be disabled in Ranked, AI, and tutorial game modes, only giving a bonus for a normal match.
At level 30, you will unlock the handicap page and it's divisions and subdivisions, as well as receive some of the more minor and basic handicaps. To gain more, you'll need to purchase them from the in-game store, which will cost around the same as tier 3 mark, seal, and glyph runes. The handicap selection can and would be unique to each champion, which is why you may only choose handicaps after you have locked your champion in. This prevents a problem such as a Zed selecting mana regeneration handicap, and receiving free bonus influence points for that round. Overall, I and my friend are excited to see your thoughts on the idea, and encourage you to leave your own ideas or additions to this idea in the comments. Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you feel it was well spent!
