Can we start a petition to get GangPlanks abilities somewhat back to what they were?

Ok hear me out. The new gp ability stuff is simply gimmicky new ideas they are trying. And while I applaud their effort for going out on a limb with the barrel E, and the silver coins, it ultimately makes gangplank super weak, and in a meta where he wasn't very common before, he is even worse.

The Visual change though is good, even though it ruined some of his skins ( my fave of special forces is bad now because it dosnt fit the new model well ).

And the ult idea is good, but none of the variations as well as its base damage do much now, seems like a very slight slow with even slighter damage.

I feel like its trying to play on the " Oh look hes fun and quirky to play now......even though he sucks "

Let's see, his passive isn't invisible power now, Q got buffed (no mana cost increase), W got changed (mana cost increases, cooldown decreases more, lower base but has %missing health heal), E is no longer invisible power and a mostly meh stat buff, and R got buffed quite a lot (base damage lowered, but it goes even in damage after 2 seconds and has higher total duration and waves, can be upgraded for even more power).

So overall most of his kit was buffed. I'm not sure WHY you would want his E changed back to "I just have ms and AD passively and can activate it for a weak AoE AD + MS buff" instead of "I have an AoE autottack that can crit, has a high base damage, and slows while ignoring 60% of an opponent's armor".

Can you post the before and after stats of the abilities? Because Im pretty sure if Q got buffed its to the point where you cant tell, especially since its not stronger from his E passive and Active.

Also, W is fine, and so is his passive, but the E and R are not stronger. While it lasts longer the canons are so spread apart that after the first barrage the enemies can easily leave it, or even after 2 hits the fight their is over by then.

And your explanation of why the E should be this barrel is just going with what i said. A straight damage passive that increases alot when active is really good, these barrels are gimmicks that are easily avoidable and cancellable easily with most ranged champs.

His Q got buffs in mana cost (no longer increases with ranks in it). R got major buffs; old R was 1 wave every second for 7 seconds. New is 1.5 waves every second for 8 seconds; while the base damage was lowered, after 2 seconds the new R has the same damage and it's damage only increases as time goes on. The only time old R was better was if you got ONLY on wave of damage off, and guess what? With the upgrades for R it isn't even better at that: 3x base damage true damage makes the first hit stronger on an already stronger ult, and the rate of fire changes the waves to 2.25 a second, outdamaging old R at every case.

Except no, it doesn't. His new E actually allows him and his opponents to have some indicator of skill; his E is INCREDIBLY powerful (high base against champions, armor pen and slow, refreshes his passive) and in return can be mitigated. That's as much a gimmick as Zyra's plants or Azir's soldiers, which is to say sure, it can be classified as a gimmick. But it's still better than the alternative of a shitty invisible stat buff and weak AoE stat buff, which is even more gimmicky.

Still would like a link to maybe a comparison, I cant find the stats for the old GP skills, but coming from a GP player, his R seems much weaker and Q seems unchanged but without E passive and Active it dosn't do as much.

I dont know why you keep calling his old E an Invisible power buff, yes many passives with small buffs dont really show anything, but the active part definitly shows the buff on everyone effected.

" His new E actually allows him and his opponents to have some indicator of skill; his E is INCREDIBLY powerful (high base against champions, armor pen and slow, refreshes his passive) and in return can be mitigated. " Like i was saying, in many of the matches if theirs a ranged champ he can easily take out the last hit of a barrel, so maybe its effective against those completely unaware of everything or idk. It also comes with all of the trade offs. U basically utilize it the most by Qing the barrel, which also means u dont get to Q the target champ ( adc, mid, etc etc ) leaving it more to hoping he dosnt take the one step out of it, or that someone stuffs the barrel.

And saying a straight up stat buff and aoe stat buff for team nearby is gimmicky is total nonsense, its probably the most straight up non gimmick move out their.

The league wiki is your friend (the wiki. not gameinfo, which while the official site is frankly shit). Bottom of background tab is a text bit that says the changes that have happened to a champion and the patch/hotfix they appeared in. Gangplank's page is http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Gangplank

...The point of it being invisible power is that most of the time your opponent doesn't see it, you don't really see it, and there is no change in how you play because of it. Gangplank's E was invisible power because most of the time it was just "Gangplank naturally has more AD and doesn't need boots", and when activated just provided more AD and ms and ~half the passive to nearby allies. You didn't change how you played when Gangplank E'd; you just passively had a bit more AD and MS for the next 7 seconds. It was the definition of invisible power basically, and Gangplank had an entire skill devoted to it. The length it lasted coupled with being a weak AoE stat buff meant there were zero cases where pressing E was a bad idea. Chasing? Press E and chase a bit better. Fighting? Press E and fight a bit better. Running? Press E and run a bit better. There were zero decisions or ways to show skill or play around Gangplank's old E; if he was nearby, enemies basically were just a tiny bit stronger and faster anytime you tried to fight.

Based on wikipedia's definition: "In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature." So yes. Gangplank's old E was a unique/quirky feature (AoE AD + MS boost, passive AD + MS boost) that was of little relevance or use (a freaking Ardent Censor support is doing more than that E most of the time; even more so if they have Talisman). While it could easily be argued that his E did not "stand out" as it was a bland entirely passive spell (here, passive meaning there was no choice or importance in using it; if anything broke out, press E and your team is a bit faster and has more AD).

However, going off that definition Gangplank's new E would not be a gimmick due to it's amazing relevance and use. Whether through simple preparation (is it that hard to hide an E barrel, then throw 2 out for a chain and shoot the hidden one to get someone?) or just timing your Q (to you know, last hit the barrel) ONE E explosion can be game changing due to great base damage (QE has ~320 base damage, +1.0 AD. And applies on hit effects in an AoE, and can crit on 120 of the base and the 1.0 ratio), great utility (giving Gangplank MS? Check. Slowing enemies in an AoE? Check. Refreshing his passive? Check), and the skill is great against anyone it hits (60% armor penetration passively).

Honestly he brings alot of utility to the team and has good side wave control and impact on bottom lane and can probably farm well enough with his parrley in a 2 vs 1 scenario and can use oranges/barrels to twart dives.

He might just be undertuned in terms of head to head matchups or power curv which old gankplank also suffered from atleast he has some form of waveclear.
