Is Pyke Support not worth it?

Hello, recently, I am often in that scenario that I play a game with Pyke on my side as support. Most of the time it starts great, we got early ahead and then still lose in the end. Here are the reasons why I believe Pyke support might just not be the greatest choice:

  • like any assassin, group-phase in mid/late-game will decrease your potential, since your catch on an enemy champion will only start a teamfight, but not really create a 4 vs 5 map advantage, since you:
  • lose the teamfight afterwards. Why? Well, as a Pyke you have no peel. You lose the opportunity of picking another support who is able to increase the power of a teammate who already got fed. For example, Zielan may offer the greatest potential here, since he can just 'double' a carry by giving him GA every teamfight. And of course he always doubles the most influencing champion, which brings you ahead the most and has the statistical highest chance to be played out in lots of games. Every Support has that ability more or less, but not so Pyke. He is rather one-dimensional and is not able to 'double' a fed-mates power. Due to his lack of synergy, he gets fed and gives strength to the team or he doesn't. 50% let's say. A real support can always play his role properly!
  • I feel like Pyke Players want to be Solo-Heros. His kit almost forces players to develop that attitude. If you want to be a Hero, play Nasus or Illaoi, since you are really going to be able to 1v3 and split effectively. Although it might be fun, Pykes catch doesn't offer a reliable source of win-game-potential, since you traded it versus the synergy potential of a real support.

Although there is a lot of crying about Pykes OPness, i think his 48% winrate speaks a different language. Please, supports in EUW, ask yourself, who do you wannt to be? Grab your heart and decide to be a real support, respect your ancients and set the win of your team as your highest goal. Every team needs a real support who is fine not making kills and gets that dopamine from shielding and snaring perfectly timed!

(I am not a pro, but I always felt bad about those juky jnl/supp picks like Shaco, Pyke, or even Nidalee. They might be good champions for certain situations, but in Solo que I just don't see them as reliable enough, since they not only have a risky kit, but also rely on a specific makro-strategy (bad for low elo especially). Go for them if you feel it, but please stop playing Pyke support.)

I'd say he's a much better blitzcrank, for laning phase and can chase down well missing all his abilities and still catch you, but without resets he's inferior in team fights. as he has no tankyness, no health. His gold funneling can really do wonders snowballing well that health pool doesn't effect him. Picking him your gonna stomp or your going to be worthless.

Those junglers nid and shaco mains have pre thought out plans their mindsets based on knowing what you'll do before your there. Their jungle control. Playing through map awareness where pyke's jungle is bent on not being invaded, and trying to get the most out of his ult passive. I think twitch does a lot better though.

Mmm... I'd say he's a worse blitzcrank, honestly, but yeah. He's pretty comparable to Blitzcrank. At least a Blitzcrank can get tanky and be a front line. Pyke isn't able to get tanky so if he's garbage, he's literally just dead weight on your team.

I've gotta say he's the equivalent to a speedy Thresh to me; as he's all about locking down the enemy. If Pyke is bad at aiming though? You've got a bigger chance losing.
