Riven

Okay, so i just started to play Riven a bit, I was struggling at start and couldnt figure out why i cant burst so fast as opposed to other rivens, i know she takes some time to learn, but... then i watched some guides.

And what amazed me is that her W, which if you use normally its cast animation will lock you in place for like 1 second, where as you do a combo E delay W Q, there will be no cast time for the W, you do practicly all 3 skills faster than just casting your W.

I dont really understand the logic behind this?

Cause its seems to me personally that all her hidden combos is to prevent people from learning her easily, which to me is not a good design choice for a champ.

Yeah, I am aware of this double and triple cast nonsense, but i dont see a reason for it?

Why hide this buffs in cast order inside a champion instead of just making all cast times the same no matter in which order you cast...

It makes the champion unnecessary hard to learn in comparison to most other champions where the cast order is not important

There is still a cast time for your W, it's just masked by the Q animation with the doublecast.

Also you can partially cancel out of it's animation with rightclicks, even normally cast. It's necessary for Shycombo's and stuff, although that has become nearly obsolete.

It's a bug, but Riot likes it despite it going against at least two of their design philosophies.

Caitlyn can overlap the cast time of her net with part of her Q animation while buffering an auto-attack that's guaranteed to be a headshot if the net lands.

I started as a bug and wasn't intended. Then riot likes it, and stared balancing her around it. Other champs can animation cancel too but not usually as well as her. But the most recent change to Riven made her canceling easier intentionally. It's just a way Riot thought it would increase her skill floor.
