Tips for Nasus

UltimateGamerVP··2 votes·2,922 views

I have just bought Nasus and played a couple plays with him. I have been playing top and was wondering if that is a good position to continue playing him. I have started building trinity force and build everything after that depending on who I am fighting up top. Any tile for early game gene he is vulnerable?

Build CDR. If you aren't playing ap Nasus you probably won't win early game unfortunately.

Never play him in the jungle, you are dependent on stacking the most, not kills. If you are to get counter jungled or even constantly killed then you're basically a goner. Mid lane is honestly possible and not too bad but you will deal with a lot of range and poke that may get unbearable so it is up to you if you want to try, but top is where nasus does the best. You want to try getting 40% or 45%(if you're going wind keystone) CDR as soon as possible so you can stack faster. Kills maybe able to help you get gold faster for items and get your laser out of lane so you can stack peacefully so getting tanks from your jungles would definitely help, or else just stack and try not to get poked down, if you're below 50% hp, try not to over extend for a single stack because being dead will just set you back more. Bring them towards your tower to safely stack. I personally go warlords bloodlust for the movement speed and life steal which honestly does help a lot. If you don't get ahead of your opponent and not able to do 30% of their hp in just 2 seconds you don't get the speed buff from the wind keystone. This is just preference though. Ghost is always better than flash because you want to stay on top of your opponent not to just flash onto them for 1 Q hit then lost them, having wither at level 2 before maxing Q helps a lot in the long run due to making them unbearably slow. Righteous glory is another good item which helps nasus speed up and slow your opponent to keep on top of them a lot with the hp and armor.

Farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm, farm.

That, and one thing I don't like about most nasus players / top players in general is that they basically just play a separate game. One you do sufficient damage, I would suggest start to try to split push other lanes or try to do something in a team fights. Don't just stay in your lane for 30 mins and wait for your team to win for you. 80% of the games I play with nasus top do this and it drives me absolutely insane

Honestly nasus isn't great as a team fighter, his strongest point is taking objectives and pushing hard generating tons of pressure, if your team is fighting or stalling then he should be shoving his lane and taking down towers, if he draws attention of the enemy team then your team should pushing for a tower, whether a 4v4 or a 4v 3 or 4v2, your team should be able to do something. Playing with nasus with about pressure and splitting. Most games I play as nasus, it's frustrating when I'm tearing away at their towers, taking it fiercely and dragging 3-4 people top, bringing the tower and 1-2 of them with me only to look at the map and realize my team is farming the jungle or running around like headless chickens. The times where you should team fight is where you see a good chance to, but grouping with your team and stalling out by poking each other, nasus will only fall behind by not being able to stack or much of anything.unless you actually going to do anything worth doing by group, it's best to keep up pressure with nasus, push top if they come, and your team is taking mid while your to is up, you can run backwards, to bot, shove it for that tower.

Yeah I agree, which is why I said "try to see if you can do something in a team fight". I meant if split pushing isn't wise, try to help your team even though you won't do much so you can get a really hard push given you win the fight.

Yea, but I've realized time and time again that if I'm doing extremely well, but my team is pushed into the corner, then what I have to do is smash down on the gas pedal and shove even harder and pressure so much that the enemy team has to back off of my team and give my team breathing room. The times where I hesitate and end up backing to support them, I end up losing because they can't team fight while being behind and we get pushed harder and harder until we lose since I can't 1v5. The minions will push in and I won't be able to push out again because I basically lose all my pressure by backing off in the first place.

I suppose. I guess I'm just referring to different scenarios / situations but I see the ones you mean and agree.

Aight so contrary to memes, you aren't a late game champion. You are a mid game champion.

Once you have your Trinity Force you need to IMMEDIATELY start shredding some objectives. Any open objective you need to be on ASAP whacking that thing down. You can teamfight too, cuz your mid game is absolutely whack. Just make sure you make as drastic of an impact as possible in the mid game.

(mid game towers > kills, seige em down)

Basically, Trinity Force = stop farming top and start wrecking towers. Yes you stack infinitely, but your health doesn't and the enemy ADC is only gonna get exponentially stronger. You need to win the game before that happens.

Most of your Q damage the whole game isn't coming from stacks, it's just base AD, base damage and Trinity Force damage. Stacks add some on but typically you are around anywhere from 250-400 stacks in mid game and it really doesn't matter cuz once you have Trinity that's all that matters. That's your powerspike and you aren't gonna powerspike again. End the game.

All of the above is true for AP Nasus as well. As soon as you get Ludens it's time to group and seige with your ridiculous E damage threat keeping them from defending.

While it is very important to put pressure on the map starting midgame, Nasus lategame, ever since the huge buffs, is quite potent. The % shred is very valuable to shred the enemy frontline, and the Q 50% cd reduction is always good. You probably won't reach their backline but you can do decent work as a juggernaught, now that you scale better than Darius etc. He's not insane by any means, but I'd say he's good.

I'm not saying he doesn't do absolutely ridiculous damage late game. I'm saying he spikes the absolute hardest at mid game far more than most champions.

The reason I say he isn't a late game champion is simply because no one is a late game champion anymore. ADCs are simply far too strong and will instantly shred even the tankiest of Nasii.

Your only hope late game is to get cheesy picks or Flash kills. Beyond that, pray your ADC does more work.

That's just the meta nowadays. No matter how bonkers insane ahead you are if you are a Juggernaut or Tank you are going to be deleted by the ADC in the late game. It's your job to make sure late game doesn't happen and the game ends during your tyrannical rule.

Late game everyone is relegated to mitigating enemy ADC damage and keeping their ADCs damage output as consistent as possible via tanking damage, CC, peeling and whatnot.

Kinda true. Less true since the ardent censer nerfs, but still true. I just wanted to point out that before buffs, Nasus was actually absolute garbage lategame teamfights, unless he had 1k + stacks, and even then... Now he's decent. He's not a liability. Not the huge monster midgame free stacked Nasus is ofc, but in general in high elo, Nasus will be largely denied so his midgame won't be incredible. (he will be less denied as quasus i guess unless camped but will not be the "stack powerhouse" either)

Just having 250 stacks is enough for him to be a monster. And that much is almost guaranteed even in a camped + lane bully lane.
