Okay so, I gain about 13-17 LP per win in my ranked games but, I lose about 20-24 LP per loss, i checked my MMR and I have the same MMR as the opponents I am facing. My friend is the same elo as me and we sometimes queue together, my MMR is lower than his, not by much but he gains more LP per win than and doesn't lose as much as LP as me when we lose. These are the same games and he gains more. Please explain why my LP gain is low and my LP loss is so high.
Mysticman892 votesYour LP gains/losses are based on your MMR relative to the division you're currently in.
If you have the same MMR but are in different divisions you'll get different LP losses/gains.
If you're in the same division but getting different LP losses/gains, you have different MMRs. (Keep in mind that third party estimates of MMR are just estimates, so even if op.gg or similar say you have the same, that may not be the case in reality.)
CrazyTroll11 votesYes we are in the same division as well, and our MMR is relatively close so I don't see why they gain 5-8 LP higher than me and lose less than me.
Mysticman891 votesThe fact they gain more and lose less is pretty clear evidence that your MMR is not that close, as division and MMR are the only factors to LP gain/loss.
